All 13 Rollins Tars who saw action scored in a 91-67 drubbing of Clark-Atlanta in game two of the SSC/SIAC crossover hosted by Florida Tech Saturday. With the win the Tars improved to 2-0 for the second straight year. With the loss the Panthers fell to 0-2.
The Tars had three players score in double figures in the victory. Jeff Merton scored in double digits for the second consecutive game putting up 17 points. Sharif Almulla did the same, follwing up his career high 24 points with a 14 point performance Saturday. Deion Clark had a very efficient day in just his second game with the Tars. The transfer from Old Dominion scored 14 points on seven of nine shooting. The Tars shot 51 percent in the win. They shot 48 percent (11-23) from the 3-point line. They were a perfect 12 of 12 at the free throw line. The Tars won the rebounding battle 38-33.
They had 14 assists and 17 turnovers.
The Panthers were led by James Arnold with 24 points. Damien Enoch scored 13- while Eneh Chuka scored seven. The Panthers shot 39 percent as a team in this one. They shot 35 percent (7-20) from the 3-point line. They shot 67 percent (18-27) at the free throw line. The Panthers had almost twice as many turnovers (22) as assists (12.)
It was Clark-Atlanta who controlled play for much of the first half. The Panthers would lead for most of the opening half. It would take a 12-4 Rollins run capped by a Kyle Koszuta 3-pointer with eight seconds in the half that would give Rollins a 39-35 halftime lead.
The Tars took control in the second stanza. The lead grew to 14 on a Almulla lay up at the 16:32 mark of the contest. The Panthers would cut it to nine with 12:05 to go but that is as close as they would get.
