Tars Fall In Finale.

The Rollins Tars dug themselves a 21 point hole in the first half- and- it would be to much to overcome as they fell 77-66 to Eckerd College in the season finale for both teams. Rollins finished the regular season at 14-14 and 8-12 in the SSC. Eckerd ended up 10-18 and 6-14 in the SSC.
 Jakobi Bonner led three Tars in double figures with 24 points- Kyle Marion tallied 12 off the bench- and- Brooks Cluxton added 10. Bonner also led the team on the glass with eight rebounds. Rollins shot a frigid 35 percent from the field- 11 percent (2-19) from the 3-point line- and- 87 percent (26-30) at the free throw line. The Tars had six assists- and- 11 turnovers in the contest.
 The Tritons were led by Myron Hagins who nailed six 3-pointer's en route to a game high 31 points- Admir Radonic was the only other player in double figures with 14. EC shot 40 percent from the field- 32 percent (12-37) from the 3-point line-and- 77 percent (13-17) at the free throw line. The Tritons dominated the boards winning the rebounding battle 45-33. They had 19 assists- and- 14 turnovers in the contest.
 The Tars got off to a slow start as they fell behind 24-4 eight minutes into this one. Marion would knock down a 3-pointer as part of a stretch when they made eight straight shots to cut the lead to four (32-28.) Rollins got to within one (35-34) with 1:21 left in the half- and- would go into the locker room trailing 38-34.
 Rollins was again in a 12 point hole (46-34) 1:35 into half number two. The Tars would make another push and after a pair of Marion free throws were within two (48-46) with 12:46 remaining. The Tritons would then go on a 14-4 run that put the game out of reach. The Tars are the seventh seed and will face second seeded Nova Southeastern at Rick Case Arena Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. Tars Close Regular Season At Eckerd.

The Rollins Tars close the regular season at the MacArthur Center in Saint Pete on Saturday when they take on the Eckerd College Tritons.  The Tars are coming off a wild double overtime victory that featured a little bit of everything. That included almost four hours from tip to finish after a broken rim delayed the game at Florida Tech for one hour and 45 minutes. Rollins would walk away with a 94-92 win behind a career high 26 points from Kyle Marion- Jakobi Bonner netted 20- Connor Mckim contributed 16 and grabbed eight rebounds- while Dayton Gumm tallied 14. Rollins shot 41 percent from the field- 42 percent (14-33) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (18-21) at the free throw line. They had 17 assists- and- 11 turnovers as a team.
Rollins (14-13 8-11 SSC) is scoring 77.7 points per game- while they allow 76.1 points per contest. They are 6-4 in true road games this season. Individually the Tars are paced by Bonner who scores 18.0 points per night- Hutton Yenor adds 12.9 per game- Mckim tallies 11.9 per contest to go with a team leading 3.3 assists per night- and- Gumm contributes 11 per game- Marion is putting up 9.9 per contest- while Trevor Recio leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 per contest.  The Tars are currently the seventh seed in the SSC tournament and could improve to sixth with a win and some help. Seventh is the worst they can do with the tournament pairing being released after Saturday's action.
 Eckerd (9-18 5-14 SSC) is coming off a 88-80 win over Saint Leo last time out. Myron Hagins- and- Phillip Cirillo led the Tritons with 21 points- Travis Bianco netted 19- and- Admir Radonic tallied 17 points- and- 12 rebounds. The Tritons shot 42 percent from the field- 44 percent (10-23) from the 3-point line- and- 65 percent (24-37) at the free throw line. Eckerd crushed Saint Leo on the boards 53-36 in the win. The Tritons score 78.4 points per game- while they allow 80.8 per contest. They out rebound the opposition by almost three boards per game (38.6-35.7.)
 Bianco leads four Tritons in double figures at 17.1 per game- Hagins scores 16.3 per contest- and- Radonic nets 15.2 per night. All three players average more than seven rebounds per night as well. Malcolm Whitlow rounds out the double digit scorers at 13.1 per night.

Rollins Outlasts FIT In Double OT.

The Rollins Tars got a game hight 26 points from Kyle Marion off the bench- and- escaped Melbourne with a 96-94 win over Florida Tech that guarantees the Tars a spot in next weeks Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
Rollins (14-13 8-11 SSC) got seven 3-pointer's from Marion for his game high 26 points- Jakobi Bonner added 20- Connor Mckim scored 16- and- Dayton Gumm netted 14. Rollins shot 41 percent from the field- 42 percent (14-33) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (18-21) from the free throw line. The Tars had 17 assists- and- 11 turnovers in the contest.
 The Panthers (11-17 5-15 SSC) got 27 points from Sesan Russell- Derek Murphy scored 22 and grabbed a team high 15 rebounds- Nieja Jordan netted 16- and- Trey Shaneville contributed 11. The Panthers shot 42 percent from the field- 27 percent (9-34) from the 3-point line- and- 68 percent (17-25) from the free throw line. The Panthers won the rebounding battle 48-39. They had 14 assists- and- 15 turnovers as a team.
 It was a slow start offensively for both teams as a Mckim 3-pointer at the 15:54 mark put Rollins up 5-2. After a Bonner free throw with 12:45 in the half the Tars led 14-4. Halfway thru the half the lead was 21-11. The lead grew to 14 but the Panthers would get to within two (30-28) after a Schaneville 3-pointer with 4:20 in the first half. After a Gumm jumper at the first half horn Rollins took a 39-35 advantage into the locker room.
 The two teams would go back and forth in the early stages of the second half. With a Mckim layup with under eight minutes to go in regulation the game was tied at 58. FIT took a nine point lead (71-62) after a Russell 3-pointer with 4:22 in regulation. Rollins would get to within one in the last minute of regulation. After a Gumm steal Marion would split a pair of free throws with 43 ticks on the clock. Russell would split a pair of free throws for the Panthers with 18 seconds in regulation. After a missed layup by Mckim with five seconds left Recio committed a Rollins foul. With Rollins down two (74-72) a Bonner jumper at the buzzer sent the game into overtime.
 Marion put the Tars on top with a 3-pointer to start the overtime but the next five went the Panthers way. Marion hit another 3-pointer with 2:08 in the extra session and Rollins led 80-79. After FIT split a pair of free throws another Marion triple put the Tars up 83-80. Murphy and Marion would trade baskets and Rollins was up three with less than a minute in overtime. Schaneville tied it with a 3-pointer with 14 seconds in overtime one- this time at 85. Marion hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left but then fouled Russell shooting a 3-pointer with one tick on the clock. Russell made all three free throws and we headed to a second overtime.
 Russell made two free throws to put the Panthers up two before Gumm knotted the game at 90 with 3:04 to go in the second overtime. Mckim gave the Tars a 92-90 lead but the Panthers tied the game at 92 with 1:10 to go in the second overtime after a layup. After a turnover by the Panthers Gumm dunked the ball to put the Tars back on top. After a missed 3-pointer- an offensive rebound- and- a turnover by the Panthers the Tars walked out of the Clemente Center with a much needed win.
Rollins will close the regular season Saturday when they play Eckerd in Saint Pete. Tip time is set for 4 PM.

Tars Travel To Melbourne Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars travel to Melbourne to battle the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State action on Wednesday. The game is slated to tip at 7:30 PM from the Clemente Center.
 Rollins (13-13 7-11 SSC) comes into the contest seventh in the Sunshine State Conference. The top eight teams in the conference qualify for the SSC Tournament. The Tars are coming off a 89-86 overtime loss in the home finale on Saturday. Jakobi Bonner scored 21 points in his final game at Warden Arena- Kyle Marion added 19- Connor Mckim scored 14 in his final home game as a Tar- and- Trevor Recio added 12. Brooks Cluxton also had a solid game scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a losing effort. Rollins shot 49 percent as a team- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line- and- 73 percent (22-30) at the free throw line. Rollins won the rebounding battle 38-36. They had 18 assists- and- 11 turnovers in the contest. Rollins was a 87-67 winner over the Panthers in the first meeting about a month ago in Winter Park. As a team the Tars score 77.1 points a game on offense- but a trademark of Tom Klusman's teams has always been the zone defense that the team plays and this season is no different as Rollins is giving up just 75.5 points per night. The Tars have been better on the road where they are 5-4 in true road games than have been at home where they went 5-9 in Warden Arena on the season.  The Tars also went 3-0 in neutral games this year.
 Bonner leads the team in scoring at 18.0 points per game- while Hutton Yenor gets 12.9 per night. Mckim leads the team in assists at 3.4 per game to go with his 10.9 points per night. Dayton Gumm also averages in double figures at 10.8 points per game. Recio leads the team in rebounding at 7.5 rebounds per contest- while Cluxton averages 6.7 rebounds night. Marion also contributes nine points per contest.
 Florida Tech (11-6 5-14 SSC) has not won a conference game away from the Clemente Center this season. Last time out they were a 95-81 loser to Nova Southeastern at the Clemente Center on Saturday. Seasan Russell led the way with 28 points in the defeat- while both Derek Murphy and Jalen Hodges notched 16- Runako Ziegler chipped in 14 of his own. FIT shot 51 percent as a team- 41 percent (5-12) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (20-25) from the free throw line. They had 10 assists- and- 12 turnovers in the contest.  The Panthers score 80 points per game- while they allow 81 per night.
 Murphy leads the season box score pouring in 20.2 points per game- to go with a team leading eight rebounds per contest. Russell puts up 18.5 per night- and- dishes out a team leading 2.6 assists per contest. Ziegler also scores in double figures at 11.8 per night.

Rollins Falls To PBA In OT.

Five Rollins Tars players scored in double figures but it was not quite enough at the Tars fell 89-86 in overtime to Palm Beach Atlantic in overtime at Warden Arena. With the loss Rollins falls to 13-13 and 7-11 in the SSC. Palm Beach Atlantic improved to 20-6 and 13-5 in the SSC as they picked up a ninth straight win.
 Jakobi Bonner led the Tars with 21 points- Kyle Marion netted 19 off the bench- Connor Mckim contributed 14- Trevor Recio scored 12 to go along with eight rebounds- while Dayton Gumm had 11 points- five rebounds- and- five assists. Brooks Cluxton added nine points and 10 rebounds of his own. Rollins shot 49 percent as a team- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line- and- 73 percent (22-30) from the free throw line. Rollins had 18 assists- and- 11 turnovers. They also won the rebounding battle 38-36.
 Six Sailfish including all five starters scored in double figures paced by Jules Jasmin with 18- Dan Largey added 17- Malek Barber- and- De'Ondre Jackson each tallied 15- Dahrius Nunn scored 14- and- Justin Nichelson chipped in 10. PBA shot 45 percent from the field- 39 percent (13-33) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line. They had 23 assists- and- 10 turnovers in the contest.
 The Tars got off to a slow start offensively and trailed 12-7 after a McKim 3-pointer more than five minutes in. It was 23-14 in favor of PBA halfway thru the opening half. After being down by 10 the Tars would get to within 33-32 after a pair of Bonner free throws with 4:21 in the opening stanza. After a Gumm dunk the game was tied at 41 but PBA took a 44-41 lead as Barber beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer right before halftime.
 Rollins trailed by six (60-54) halfway thru half number two. After a Nicholson 3-ball at the 8:12 mark it was a 11 point (66-55) Rollins deficit. The deficit was 12 at the seven minute mark but Rollins would battle back. After a Marion 3-pointer at the 4:26 mark Rollins trailed 69-63 which forced a PBA timeout. Cluxton would score the next four but a clutch 3-pointer by Largey put the Sailfish back up five with 3:08 left on the clock. Rollins would score the next six points as Cluxton gave them the lead with 1:19 to go in regulation. Barber and Marion traded baskets- then Gumm made two free throws with 29 seconds left to give Rollins a 77-74 lead. A Nunn 3-pointer with six seconds left sent the game into overtime.
 Recio hit a 3-ball to give the Tars the lead 52 seconds into overtime. After Marion knocked down a 3-pointer it was 83-79 Rollins with 2:48 to go in the extra session. Largey hit a 3-pointer- and- Gumm split a pair of free throws to make it 84-82. Barber hit a pair of free throws and the game was knotted at 84 with 1:20 in overtime. Nunn put the Sailfish on top with a layup with 43 seconds in the extra frame. Bonner calmly stepped to the line and drained a pair of free throws with 30 seconds in OT that tied the game at 86. Jackson would hit what proved to be the game winning 3-pointer with three seconds left- as a Marion 3-ball was off the mark as time expired.
 Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Florida Tech. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM

Tars Welcome PBA To Winter Park Saturday.

The Rollins Tars welcome the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish to Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center Saturday.  Rollins (13-12 7-10 SSC) is coming off a convincing 89-71 win over Lynn at home on Wednesday. They were paced by 24 points from Jakobi Bonner- Dayton Gumm netted 18- while Brooks Cluxton tied a season high with 16 points- and- set a new career high with 16 rebounds. Connor Mckim led the Tars with five assists. They shot 56 percent from the field- 41 percent (9-22) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (12-14) from the free throw line. The Tars won the rebounding battle 38-30. They had 17 assists- and- nine turnovers in the game.  They average 76.7 points as a team- while they allow 74.8 points per night.
 Bonner pours in 17.8 points per night to lead the team- Hutton Yenor gets 12.9 per contest- Connor Mckim and Gumm each average 10.8 points per contest. Mckim leads the team in assists at 3.5 per game- while Trevor Recio leads the team in rebounds at 7.5 per night.
 The Sailfish (19-6 12-5) come into the contest riding a eight game win streak. Last time out they upset #10 Nova Southeastern 78-77. Rollins Eases Past Lynn At Home.

The Rollins Tars got a double-double from Brooks Cluxton as four Tars in double figures as they eased past Lynn 89-71 at Warden Arena. With the win Rollins improves to 13-12 and 7-10 in the SSC. After the defeat Lynn falls to 10-13 and 6-11 in the SSC.
 Jakobi Bonner led the Tars with 24 points- Dayton Gumm netted 18- Cluxton had a monster night scoring 16 points- and- grabbing 16 rebounds- while Trevor Recio added 10. Rollins shot 56 percent as a team- 41 percent (9-22) from the 3-point line- and- shot at a 86 percent clip (12-14) from the free throw line. Rollins won the rebounding battle 38-30. They had 17 assists- and- nine turnovers in the contest.
 Lynn also had four players in double figures led by Jordan Allen with 17- he also added nine rebounds. Christian Peevy scored 15- while both Cameron Gaines- and- Brandon Bornelius netted 12. The Fighting Knights shot shot 40 percent from the field- 29 percent (9-31) from the 3-point line- and- 83 percent (10-12) from the free throw line. They had 16 assists- and- nine turnovers in the contest.
 Rollins jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the early going. The Tars would stretch the lead to 14 (25-11) just over halfway thru the opening half. The Tars would hold a 40-22 lead as the teams would head to there respective locker rooms.
 Connor McKim stretched the lead to 21 for the Tars to open the second half but the Fighting Knights would not go quietly. The Fighting Knights were within 14 (57-43) when the Tars got 3-pointer's from Bonner and Recio to remove all doubt. Rollins would ease to victory the rest of the way.

Tars Host Lynn in Pivotal SSC Matchup

It is that time of year in college basketball. If not an absolute must win game for Rollins College when they host the Lynn Fighting Knights it is pretty darn close. The Tars are tied with the Fighting Knights in the standings and Florida Tech is nipping at both of their heels as the top eight teams in the SSC qualify for the upcoming tournament.

 The Tars are coming off a 84-79 loss to Barry last time out. Jokobi Bonner led the way with 19 points for the short handed Tars. Connor McKim added 17- Parker Davis scored 14 off the bench- and- Dayton Gumm tallied 11 in the loss- whole Brooks Cluxton had a team leading eight rebounds. Rollins shot 41 percent from the floor- 36 percent (12-33) from the 3-point line- and- 77 percent (17-22) from the free throw line. They had 16 assists- and- 11 turnovers as a team.
 The Tars have struggled at home where they are just 4-8 on the season. They average 76.2 points per game- while they allow 75.1 per night. That number on the defensive end has risen to 89.1 points allowed per night in conference play.

Rollins Nipped At Home By Barry.

The Rollins Tars were nipped 84-79 by Barry at Warden Arena on Saturday. With the loss Rollins drops to 12-12 and 6-10 in the SSC. After the victory the Buccaneers improve to 17-7 and 11-6 in the SSC.
 Jakobi Bonner led Rollins with 19 points- Connor Mckim added 17- and- Parker Davis scored 14. The Tars shot 41 percent as a team- 36 percent (12-33) from the 3-point line- and- 72 percent (17-22) at the free throw line. The Tars had 16 assists- and- 11 turnovers.
 Barry was led by Tylan Birts with 24- while Evan Walshe netted 21. They shot 60 percent as a team- seven of 19 from the 3-point line- and- 57 percent (13-23) from the free throw line. They had 20 assists- and- 18 turnovers.
 The game was tied at seven in the early going. It would be 13-9 Barry midway thru the opening half. After a Mckim 3-pointer at the 5:42 mark of the opening stanza it was 21-18 Bucs. They would stretch that lead to 33-22 at the half.
 Rollins would score the first five points of the second half and after a 3-pointer by Trevor Recio they trailed 33-27. After a Bonner layup at the 11:01 mark Rollins was within four (52-48.) The game looked to be in Barry's control but a push by the Tars capped by a conventional three point play by Bonner got them within six (72-66) at the 2:22 mark. At the 1:13 mark Dayton Gumm would convert a three point play and the lead was down to three (74-71.) Davis would hit a three with 30 seconds left and the Tars would get to within 79-77 but that is as close as they would get as Barry would ice it the free throw line.

Tars Tangle With Bucs Saturday.

The Rollins College Tars continue a stretch of playing opponents in the top half of the Sunshine State Conference when they welcome the Barry Buccaneers to Warden Arena on Saturday.  Rollins (12-11 6-9 SSC) is coming off a hard fought 77-72 loss to fifth ranked Florida Southern on Wednesday. Jakobi Bonner led three Tars in double figures with 22 points- Hutton Yenor tallied 15- and- Brooks Cluxton added 14 to go along with a team high nine rebounds. The Tars shot 42 percent from the field- 48 percent (10-21) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line.  Rollins won the rebounding battle 38-33. They had 17 assists- and- 14 turnovers in the game. The Tars come into the game averaging 76.3 points per game on offense- while the zone defense implemented my Tom Klusman 40 years ago has allowed just 74.7 points per night.
 Bonner leads the season box score at 17.5 points per game- Yenor adds 12.9 per contest- while Connor Mckim (10.6 points per night-) and- Dayton Gumm (10.3 points per game) also average double figures.

#5 Southern Sneaks Past Tars.

For the second time in a week the Rollins Tars were a battle with a top five team in the country- and- for the second time in a week Rollins came up just short. This time they held the high octane Florida Southern offense to 77 points- but fell 77-72 at Jenkins FieldHouse. With the loss Rollins falls to 12-11 and 6-9 in the SSC. FSC improves to 22-2 and 14-2 in the SSC with a 10th consecutive victory.
 Rollins was led by a trio of players in double figures. Jakobi Bonner led the way with 22 points- Hutton Yenor netted 15 off the bench- and- Brooks Cluxton narrowly missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Rollins shot 42 percent as a team- 48 percent (10-21) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line. They won the rebounding battle 38-33. The Tars had 17 assists- and- 14 turnovers in the contest. The back court of Dayton Gumm and Connor McKim combined to go 3-22 from the floor and scored just nine points in the defeat.
 The Mocs were led by four players in double figures. Jalyn Hinton stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points- four rebounds- two assists- and- four blocks. Brandon Carroll came off the bench to score 16- Brett Hanson added 15- and- EJ Dambreville tallied 13 points and nine rebounds. FSC shot 48 percent from the floor- 35 percent (9-26) from the 3-point line- and- 63 percent (12-19) from the free throw line. The Mocs had 16 assists- and- seven turnovers as a team.
 Rollins took a 11-10 lead early after a Bonner 3-pointer. Both teams would then go cold and the next basket wouldn't come until a Trevor Recio layup at the 12:43 mark. It would be 19-17 Rollins halfway thru the opening half as Gumm would hit his lone 3-pointer of the contest. The game would knotted at 22 with under 10 to play in the opening half before Carroll put the Mocs on top with a triple with 732 to go in the opening stanza.  Rollins went on top 32-31 after a McKim 3-pointer with 4:05 in the opening stanza. Sheldon Odunna ould hit a three of his own to stretch the lead to four. Yenor would hit from long range and the Tars now led 38-31. Rollins would take a seven point lead (40-33) into the locker room.
 Bonner led Rollins with 10 in the opening half- while Yenor added eight. They shot 44 percent from the field- 64 percent (7-11) from the 3-point line- and- 71 percent (5-7) at the free throw line. The Tars had 10 assists- and- six turnovers in the opening stanza.
 The Mocs shot 45 percent in the first 20 minutes- 29 percent (4-14) from the 3-point line- and- 60 percent (3-5) from the free throw line. The Mocs had 10 assists- and- three turnovers in the half.
 Cluxton scored the first four points of the second half and the lead was 11 (44-33) in favor of the visitor's. After a Jair Rodgers 3-pointer at the 11:41 mark the game was knotted at 50. Rollins would grab the lead right back. as they would go on a 7-0 run capped by a Yenor 3-pointer to make it 57-50 halfway thru the second stanza. Bonner made two free throws that made it 59-54 at the 8:27 mark. It stayed that way until a Hinton layup at 7:06- but Bonner would knock down a triple to make it a six point Rollins lead with under seven minutes left. Cluxton made two free throws with 4:55 to go and that meant the lead was five (67-62.) Southern would then go on a 8-0 run before a Bonner 3-ball knotted the game at 70 with 1:50 remaining. A Carroll 3-pointer with 53 seconds left would prove to be the game winner. The Mocs would ice the game at the free throw line.

Rollins Faces Litmus Test Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars fresh off a tough 65-62 win over Saint Leo on Saturday night will head to Lakeland to battle #6 Florida Southern inside Jenkins Field House. The Tars come into the contest with a record of 12-10 and a 6-8 mark in the SSC. The Moccasins come in with a record of 21-2 and 13-2 in the SSC.
 Rollins is currently seventh in the SSC Standings. They are paced by Jakobi Bonner with 17.3 points per game- Hutton Yenor nets 12.8 points per contest- while Connor Mckim is scoring 10.9 points per night- to go along with a team leading 3.4 assists per contest. Dayton Gumm rounds out the double digit scorers at 10.7 per night. Trevor Recio is the top rebounder on the team grabbing 7.8 caroms per night. The Tars are averaging 76.4 per game on the offensive end- while they are second on defense giving up 74.6 per night.
 The Mocs are putting up the third most points in the conference at 93.3 a game while allow 82.8 a night. Brett Hanson is the Mocs top scorer and leads the SSC at 22.4 per night. He has scored in double figures every game this season- including a season high 42 points versus Lindenwood. Jak Rauch nets 15.3 per night- while Jalyn Hinton nearly averages a double-double. He is scoring 14.5 per game- and- is leading the SSC in rebounding at 9.3 per night. Hinton is the top shot blocker in the country blocking 3.5 shots per contest. EJ Dambreville (12.5 ppg-) and- Jair Rodgers (12.1 ppg) round out the high octane Mocs offense.
 In the first meeting between the two teams the Mocs escaped Winter Park with a narrow 85-83 win. Yenor scored 28 in that game- and- Bonner added 17 in a losing effort. On the other side the Mocs were led in that contest by 20 points from Rodgers- and- 19 points plus nine rebounds in the game from Brett Hanson.

Defense Keys Tars Win At Saint Leo.

The Rollins Tars held Saint Leo without a field goal for the final 3:06 and walked away with a 65-62 win at the Marion Bowman Activities Center Saturday. With the win Rollins improves to 12-10 and 6-8 in the SSC. Saint Leo falls to 14-9 and 8-7 in the SSC after the defeat.
 Rollins was led by a trio of players in double figures. Connor Mckim led the way with 17 points- Hutton Yenor added 15 off the bench- and- Jakobi Bonner chipped in 13. The Tars shot 48 percent from the floor- 39 percent (7-18) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (12-16) at the free throw line. The Tars had 12 assists- and- 10 turnovers in the contest.
 Kyran McClure poured in 31 points to lead the Lions- while Isaiah Hill added eight. They shot 37 percent from the field- 36 percent (11-31) from the 3-point line- and- 93 percent (13-14) at the free throw line. The Lions won the rebounding battle 31-29. They had 12 assists- and- 13 turnovers as a team.
 Both teams were cold to start the game as the Lions took a 4-0 lead three minutes in before a Trevor Recio dunk cut the lead in half. After a McClure 3-pointer the Lions led 13-2. The Tars would trail 18-12 after a Brooks Cluxton layup at the 9:41 mark of the half. After a Recio free throw the game was tied at 27 with 3:33 in the opening stanza. The game would be knotted at 34 at halftime.
 Rollins would take the lead on a Mckim triple at the 19:19 mark. Parker Davis would hit a free throw to give the Tars a brief 45-44 lead. The tars trailed by six (58-52) after another McClure 3-pointer. A Yenor 3-ball at the 5:16 mark knotted the game at 60. A McKim layup at the 2:42 mark gave the Tars the lead they would not relinquish. McClure had a three to tie it at the buzzer but it would not fall.

Rollins Upended by #5 NSU.

The Rollins Tars (11-10 5-8 SSC) held the top ranked scoring offense in the country to 16+ points under there average Wednesday night but the fifth ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks (17-2 11-2 SSC) upended Rollins 89-85 inside of Warden Arena Wednesday. The two teams split the season series with each winning on the other's home floor.
 RJ Sunahara led four Sharks in double figures with 25 points- Mark Matthews- and- Mikkel Kolstad each netted 18- while Eddie Puisis scored 11. The Sharks shot 50 percent from the field- 38 percent (9-24) from the 3-point line- and- 74 percent (14-19) at the free throw line. The Sharks won the rebounding battle 38-34. They had 23 assists- and- 10 turnovers in the contest.
 Rollins was paced by 22 points from Jakobi Bonner. It was the 13th consecutive game he has scored in double figures. Connor McKim added 18 points and a team high seven assists- Dayton Gumm scored 12- and- Hutton Yenor tallied 10. Trevor Recio had a team leading nine rebounds. Rollins shot 49 percent from the field- 35 percent (8-23) from the 3-point line- and- 77 percent (13-17) at the free throw line. They had 17 assists- and- 12 turnovers as a team.
 The teams went back and forth early as the Tars took a 13-8 lead after a Bonner 3-pointer with 14:32 to go in the opening half. The Sharks would tie the game at 15 after a Matthews basket. Rollins would get back to back McKim 3-pointer's to take a seven point lead (26-19) at the 10:26 mark of the half. NSU would regain the lead 31-30 at the 8:05 mark of the first stanza. NSU would take a 43-39 lead into the locker room.
In the opening half Rollins was led by 11 points from McKim- while Recio added nine- and- seven rebounds. The Tars shot 47 percent from the field- 50 percent (5-10) from the 3-point line- and- 67 percent (6-9) from the free throw line. They had nine assists- and- seven turnovers in the opening stanza.
 Sunahara had 12- and- Matthews eight led Nova in the opening half. They shot 47 percent from the field- 27 percent (4-15) from the 3-point line- and- 83 percent (5-6) from the free throw line. The Sharks led the rebounding battle 17-16 in the first half. They had 13 assists- and- three turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
 The Sharks stretched the lead to 47-39- but the Tars would counter and tie the game at 51 after a Kyle Marion 3-pointer with 15:19 to go. After some back and forth action NSU lead 64-59 halfway though the second stanza. The Tars were down just three (69-66) after a McKim jumper with just under six minutes to go. Rollins would pull within three on several occasions. With 33 seconds left after a Bonner basket it was a two point game. Kolstad and Matthews would hit some clutch free throws down the stretch to avoid the upset.

The Rollins Tars are just one of two teams to knock off now fifth ranked Nova Southeastern this season when they pulled off the upset of then top ranked NSU 86-85 on 12/14. Tars Roll Past Tampa.

The Rollins Tars bounced back after a rough game Wednesday night in Daytona to sweep Tampa after a 87-74 win at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. With the win the Tars improve to 11-9 and 5-7 in the SSC. Tampa falls to 6-15 and 3-10  in the SSC.
 Rollins was led by Hutton Yenor who had 20 points off the bench- while Jakobi Bonner- and- Connor Mckim tallied 18. Mckim also had five assists. Brooks Cluxton also scored in double figures with 12.  Rollins shot 60 percent from the field- 45 percent (9-20) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (12-16) at the free throw line. They had 18 assists and six turnovers as a team.
 Tampa was led by Pat Bacon with 24- Martin Lakovic added 17- and- Derrick Felder netted 15. They shot 51 percent from the field- 50 percent (8-16) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (20-25) from the free throw line. The Spartans won the rebounding battle 27-24. They had 13 assists- and- 15 turnovers in the contest.
 The two teams would go back and forth early before the Tars went up nine (17-8) after a Dayton Gumm 3-pointer. Gumm returned after missing the last couple weeks to injury. Tampa came back and took a 27-26 lead after a Gio Diaz 3-pointer with 7:21 in the half. The Spartans held the lead for much of the rest of the half until a Mckim jumper with 15 seconds to go in the opening stanza made it 39-38 in favor of the home standing Tars.
 Rollins would then regain the lead at the 11:17 mark after a Yenor jumper but again the Spartans would knot the game this time at 56. Rollins could not stretch the lead past five points until a pair of Mckim free throws at the 4:28 mark. The Spartans got within five but a Bonner 3-pointer- and- a dunk by Yenor made it 80-70 with three minutes left. The Tars would cruise to victory from there.
