The Rollins Tars close the regular season at the MacArthur Center in Saint Pete on Saturday when they take on the Eckerd College Tritons. The Tars are coming off a wild double overtime victory that featured a little bit of everything. That included almost four hours from tip to finish after a broken rim delayed the game at Florida Tech for one hour and 45 minutes. Rollins would walk away with a 94-92 win behind a career high 26 points from Kyle Marion- Jakobi Bonner netted 20- Connor Mckim contributed 16 and grabbed eight rebounds- while Dayton Gumm tallied 14. Rollins shot 41 percent from the field- 42 percent (14-33) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (18-21) at the free throw line. They had 17 assists- and- 11 turnovers as a team.
Rollins (14-13 8-11 SSC) is scoring 77.7 points per game- while they allow 76.1 points per contest. They are 6-4 in true road games this season. Individually the Tars are paced by Bonner who scores 18.0 points per night- Hutton Yenor adds 12.9 per game- Mckim tallies 11.9 per contest to go with a team leading 3.3 assists per night- and- Gumm contributes 11 per game- Marion is putting up 9.9 per contest- while Trevor Recio leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 per contest. The Tars are currently the seventh seed in the SSC tournament and could improve to sixth with a win and some help. Seventh is the worst they can do with the tournament pairing being released after Saturday's action.
Eckerd (9-18 5-14 SSC) is coming off a 88-80 win over Saint Leo last time out. Myron Hagins- and- Phillip Cirillo led the Tritons with 21 points- Travis Bianco netted 19- and- Admir Radonic tallied 17 points- and- 12 rebounds. The Tritons shot 42 percent from the field- 44 percent (10-23) from the 3-point line- and- 65 percent (24-37) at the free throw line. Eckerd crushed Saint Leo on the boards 53-36 in the win. The Tritons score 78.4 points per game- while they allow 80.8 per contest. They out rebound the opposition by almost three boards per game (38.6-35.7.)
Bianco leads four Tritons in double figures at 17.1 per game- Hagins scores 16.3 per contest- and- Radonic nets 15.2 per night. All three players average more than seven rebounds per night as well. Malcolm Whitlow rounds out the double digit scorers at 13.1 per night.
