Rollins Falls To PBA In OT.

Five Rollins Tars players scored in double figures but it was not quite enough at the Tars fell 89-86 in overtime to Palm Beach Atlantic in overtime at Warden Arena. With the loss Rollins falls to 13-13 and 7-11 in the SSC. Palm Beach Atlantic improved to 20-6 and 13-5 in the SSC as they picked up a ninth straight win.
 Jakobi Bonner led the Tars with 21 points- Kyle Marion netted 19 off the bench- Connor Mckim contributed 14- Trevor Recio scored 12 to go along with eight rebounds- while Dayton Gumm had 11 points- five rebounds- and- five assists. Brooks Cluxton added nine points and 10 rebounds of his own. Rollins shot 49 percent as a team- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line- and- 73 percent (22-30) from the free throw line. Rollins had 18 assists- and- 11 turnovers. They also won the rebounding battle 38-36.
 Six Sailfish including all five starters scored in double figures paced by Jules Jasmin with 18- Dan Largey added 17- Malek Barber- and- De'Ondre Jackson each tallied 15- Dahrius Nunn scored 14- and- Justin Nichelson chipped in 10. PBA shot 45 percent from the field- 39 percent (13-33) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line. They had 23 assists- and- 10 turnovers in the contest.
 The Tars got off to a slow start offensively and trailed 12-7 after a McKim 3-pointer more than five minutes in. It was 23-14 in favor of PBA halfway thru the opening half. After being down by 10 the Tars would get to within 33-32 after a pair of Bonner free throws with 4:21 in the opening stanza. After a Gumm dunk the game was tied at 41 but PBA took a 44-41 lead as Barber beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer right before halftime.
 Rollins trailed by six (60-54) halfway thru half number two. After a Nicholson 3-ball at the 8:12 mark it was a 11 point (66-55) Rollins deficit. The deficit was 12 at the seven minute mark but Rollins would battle back. After a Marion 3-pointer at the 4:26 mark Rollins trailed 69-63 which forced a PBA timeout. Cluxton would score the next four but a clutch 3-pointer by Largey put the Sailfish back up five with 3:08 left on the clock. Rollins would score the next six points as Cluxton gave them the lead with 1:19 to go in regulation. Barber and Marion traded baskets- then Gumm made two free throws with 29 seconds left to give Rollins a 77-74 lead. A Nunn 3-pointer with six seconds left sent the game into overtime.
 Recio hit a 3-ball to give the Tars the lead 52 seconds into overtime. After Marion knocked down a 3-pointer it was 83-79 Rollins with 2:48 to go in the extra session. Largey hit a 3-pointer- and- Gumm split a pair of free throws to make it 84-82. Barber hit a pair of free throws and the game was knotted at 84 with 1:20 in overtime. Nunn put the Sailfish on top with a layup with 43 seconds in the extra frame. Bonner calmly stepped to the line and drained a pair of free throws with 30 seconds in OT that tied the game at 86. Jackson would hit what proved to be the game winning 3-pointer with three seconds left- as a Marion 3-ball was off the mark as time expired.
 Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Florida Tech. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM
