Rollins Falls To ERAU.

The Rollins Tars were a 79-73 loser to Embry-Riddle at the ICI Center On Wednesday. With the loss Rollins falls to 9-11 overall and 3-9 in the SSC, The Eagles improve to 10-13 and 3-9 in the SSC as they complete the sweep of the season series.
  Hutton Yenor led the Tars with 22 points on the game- while Connor McKim netted 15- and- Jakobi Bonner scored nine. Rollins shot 46 percent as a team- 36 percent (8-22) from the 3-point line- and- 92 percent (11-12) at the free throw line. The Tars had 14 assists and eight turnovers as a team.
  Embry-Riddle was led by Elijah Jenkins with 29- while Nashad Mackey added 15.  Alston Jones only scored six points- but dished out a game high 13 assists.  The Eagles shot a blistering 60 percent from the field- 49 percent (16-33) from the 3-point line- and- shot 50 percent (3-6) from the free throw line. The Eagles won the rebounding battle 29-26. They had 25 assists and 16 turnovers as a team.
 It would be 26-19 in favor of the Eagles halfway thru the opening half. The Tars would take the lead (32-31) after a Mckim 3-pointer with 4:14 to go in the first stanza.  Tylin Locket-Fuller would make a 3-pointer for ERAU at the 1:26 mark- and- the Eagles would take a 43-42 lead into the locker room.
  McKim would lead the Tars with 10 in the opening half- while Yenor had eight. The Tars shot 55 percent in the first 20 minutes- 46 percent (5-11) from the 3-point line- and- 83 percent (5-6) from the free throw line. The Tars had nine assists and four turnovers in the half.
 The Eagles were led by Jenkins with 20- while three players tallied five points each in the first half. They shot 62 percent as a team- 50 percent (9-18) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (2-4) from the free throw line. ERAU had 12 assists and five turnovers in the half.
  ERAU came out and scored the first seven points of the second half- before McKim knocked down a triple. The Eagles would lead by 11 (58-47)- before a Yenor 3-ball made it 58-50 at the 14:34 mark. The Tars would battle back once again- and- retake the lead 63-62 after a Yenor 3-ball with 7:05 to go. The two teams would trade baskets- and- then Nick Heard would give the Eagles a 67-65 lead a minute later.  Both offenses would go stagnant as the next points would not come until the Eagles got another Heard 3-pointer at the 3:39 mark. The Tars would get to within two (75-73) after a pair of free throws with 44 seconds to go. The Eagles would close the win out with another Jenkins 3-pointer- and- then- he would get a steal at the other end.

Tars Head To Daytona Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars (9-10 3-8 SSC) will head to Daytona Beach to battle the Embry-Riddle Eagles( 9-13 2-9 SSC) at the ICI Center Wednesday night.  Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com.
  Rollins was a 80-77 loser to nationally ranked Lynn on Saturday and have lost five of six overall. Hutton Yenor paced the Tars with 20 points off the bench- Eric Castaneda scored 18- Jokobi Bonner had 15- and- Connor McKim added 10. Rollins shot 58 percent from the field- 45 percent from the 3-point line (5-11-) and- 78 percent (14-18) at the free throw line in the losing effort. The Tars had 13 assists and 13 turnovers in the contest.
 Rollins fell to Embry-Riddle 81-69 in Winter Park on November 28th. Parker Davis had 20 points- and- Daniel Loh added 11 in the defeat that day. Rollins shot 42 percent from the floor- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line in that contest. They only went to the free throw line nine times- and- made just five in the loss. Rollins had 11 assists and 14 turnovers in that defeat.
   Bonner leads the Tars in scoring at 13.5 per night- McKim scores 12.5 per contest- and- Yenor averages 11.2 per night. As a team Rollins averages 75.1 points per game which is good for seventh in the SSC on the offensive end. On defense they allow 74.2 points per night which is fifth in the conference.
  ERAU is coming off a 109-98 loss to Nova Southeastern on Saturday.  Nashad Mackey paced the Eagles with 24 points- Alston Jones and CJ Henagan each tallied 20- while Luka Majstorovic added 15.  ERAU shot 50 percent from the floor- 44 percent (10-23) from the 3-point line- and- 71 percent (10-14) at the free throw line.
 In the meeting with the Tars in Winter Park in November five players scored in double figures led by 15 points from Tylin Lockett-Fuller.  Nick Heard scored 13- Elijah Jenkins added 12- Majstorovic netted 11- and- Henagan chipped in 10. The Eagles shot 52 percent from the field- 42 percent from the 3-point line (11-26-) and- 75 percent (12-16) from the free throw line.
  The Eagles score a league second best 81.7 points a game on the offense end- where they struggle is defensively as they give up a league ninth best 80.1 points per night. They have four players who average double figures on the season. Mackey leads the way putting up 15.7 per night- he also leads the team in rebounding at 11.2 per contest- Majstorovic is not far behind at 15.3 points per game- to go with 6.7 rebounds per contest. Alston Jones scores 14.5 per night- and- Lockett-Fuller averages an even 10 points a night.

Rollins Nipped By Lynn Saturday.

The Rollins Tars dropped a tight one Saturday- as they were a 80-77 loser to Lynn in Boca Raton. With the loss Rollins fell under .500 at 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the SSC. Lynn improved to 16-2 and 9-2 in the SSC.
  Michael Baez led the way for Lynn with 22 points- Jamal Palmer added 18- and- Darius Moore chipped in 10. The Fighting Knights shot 45 percent from the floor- 41 percent (12-29) from the 3-point line- and- 56 percent (10-18) from the free throw line. Lynn won the rebounding battle 34-26. They had 13 assists and 13 turnovers as a team.
  Hutton Yenor sparked Rollins off the bench and paced the Tars with 20 points- Eric Castaneda scored 18- Jakobi Bonner added 15- and- Connor McKim netted 10 in the loss. The Tars shot 58 percent as a team- 46 percent (5-11) from the 3-point line- and- 78 percent (14-18) from the free throw line. The Tars had 13 assists and 13 turnovers as a team.
  A game of runs saw the Tars and Fighting Knights tied at 18 with 9:30 to go in the opening half. Rollins briefly took the lead- only to see Lynn take it right back. The game would again be knotted, this time at 30 after a McKim 3-pointer with 2:29 in the opening half. Yenor would put the Tars on top- but a 3-pointer by Baez would give Lynn a 33-32 halftime lead. The Fighting Knights would be on top by 11 (55-44) with 11:48 to go in the contest. Several minutes later Rollins would cut the lead to one (69-68) after a Castaneda 3-pointer with 2:27 to go. The next five points would belong to the Fighting Knights. After a McKim 3-pointer Rollins would trail 79-77 with 11 seconds to play. With one second left Lynn would go up by three and then after the second free throw was missed time would expire.

Rollins Battles Nationally Ranked Lynn Saturday.

The Rollins Tars coming off a 88-65 loss to Florida Tech last time out travel to Boca Raton to take on the Lynn Fighting Knights. The Tars come into Saturday 9-9 overall and 3-7 in the SSC. On the other side of the ledger the 14th ranked Fighting Knights are 15-2 and 8-2 in the SSC. The game will tip at 4 PM from the de Hoernle' Sport and Cultural Center.  Hutton Yenor scored a game high 16 points to lead the Tars in a disappointing loss to Florida Tech that followed a big win over nationally ranked Florida Southern last Saturday. Connor McKim scored 13 points- grabbed six rebounds- dished out six assists- and- had four steals in the defeat. Jakobi Bonner chipped in 11. The Panthers were 18 of 43 from the 3-point line in the contest. Bonner leads Rollins in scoring at 14.9 points per game- he also grabs 4.1 rebounds a contest. McKim scores 13.4 a night and shoots 86 percent at the free throw line. Yenor has been the spark plug off the bench this season and puts up 11.4 per contest. Trevor Recio (4.9-) and- Daniel Loh (4.8) lead the Tars on the glass this season. Rollins is sixth on offense where they score 74.9 per game- while on the defensive end they give up 73.8 per night.
  Lynn comes in winners of five of the last six. The only loss was a two point loss to fifth ranked Nova Southeastern. The last time out the Fighting Knights edged Barry 72-71 on Wednesday. Michael Baez led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds- while Jamal Palmer had 18. Palmer hit the game winner at the buzzer. Baez and Palmer pace the Fighting Knights as they each score 15.8 per night. Baez grabs 5.1 rebounds a night as well. Brandon Bornelus scores 14.3 a game- and- Darius Moore chips in 13.2 per contest. Lynn is averaging 78.3 per game- while they give up 70 a night.

Rollins Falls Flat In Loss To FIT.

Every coaches worst nightmare after a big win is to have a big letdown to follow. On Wednesday night at Warden Arena the coaching staff at Rollins saw that nightmare become a  reality as they were clobbered 88-65 by last place Florida Tech. With the loss the Tars dropped to 9-9 and 3-7 in the SSC. After the victory Florida Tech improved to 8-10 and 2-8 in the SSC.
  Only three Rollins players scored in double figures in the loss Wednesday. Hutton Yenor came off the bench to lead the Tars with 16 points- Connor McKim added 13 points and six assists- while Jakobi Bonner added 11. The Tars shot 42 percent as a team- 28 percent (8-29) from the 3-point line- and- 78 percent (7-9) at the free throw line. The Tars had 18 assists and 18 turnovers in the contest.
  All five Florida Tech players scored in double figures in the win. Valur Valsson paced the Panthers with 21 points- nine assists- and- six rebounds- Season Russell and Derek Murphy each had 18- Antonis Pefanis added 17- and- Trey Schaneville netted 14. The Panthers shot 47 percent as a team- 42 percent (18-43) from the 3-point line- and- 91 percent (10-11) from the free throw line. The Panthers won the rebounding battle 37-30. They had 25 assists and 15 turnovers as a team.
  The game got off to a slow start offensively for both teams. Rollins got a pair of Trevor Recio free throws to get them on the scoreboard- before the Panthers got a Russell basket that would knot the game at two two minutes in. The game would then be tied at 11 six minutes in. Back to Back Valsson 3-pointer's would make it a six point lead for the Panthers. It would be 22-18 in favor of Tech halfway thru the opening half. It would be a seven points Tars deficit (42-35) at halftime.
  Valsson had 15 to lead Florida Tech in the opening 20 minutes- while Russell added nine. The two Florida Tech Panthers would combine to go nine of nine from the floor in the opening half, including six of six from the 3-point line.  The Panthers shot 52 percent as a team- 43 percent (9-21) from the 3-point line- 50 percent (1-2) at the free throw line. The Panthers had 15 assists and nine turnovers in the opening half.
  Rollins was led by nine points from Bonner- while Yenor and Recio each added six. The Tars shot 46 percent from the field- 27 percent (3-11) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (6-7) from the free throw line. The Tars had 12 assists and 11 turnovers in the opening half.
  Rollins got to within two (42-40) after a McKim 3-pointer a minute into the second half. The Panthers would then go on a 15-0 run in the next two and a half minutes to open up a 17 point lead. The Panthers would coast to the victory from there.

Upstart Tars Host Florida Tech Wednesday.

The Rollins College Tars- fresh off a big 83-69 win over then 22nd ranked Florida Southern Saturday take on the Panthers of Florida Tech Wednesday. As always you can catch the game on 91.5 FM WPRK and on RollinsSports.com
Rollins (9-8 3-6 SSC) snapped a four game losing slide in a big win Saturday with a convincing 83-69 win over the Mocs. Connor McKim had 17 points to lead the Tars- to go along with six assists- Jakobi Bonner and Hutton Yenor each tallied 15- while Daniel Loh and Eric Castaneda scored 11 each. Bonner leads the season box score at 15.2 per contest- McKim scores 13.5 a game and also leads the team in assists with 49 on the season. Yenor is the spark off of the Tars bench as he puts up 11 per night. Loh is the teams leading rebounder at 5.1 per night. Rollins is seventh in the conference in scoring at 75.5 points per night- while defensively they are fourth in the conference giving up 73 points per game.
 FIT (7-10 1-8 SSC) has dropped five straight. The Panthers were a 71-67 loser to Palm Beach Atlantic last time out. Season Russell had a double-double to lead the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds- while Derek Murphy had one of his own (10 points and 11 rebounds.)  Antonio Pefanis netted 16.  Murphy leads the season box score scoring 21.7 points per night- Pefanis scores 14 a game- and- RJ Coil nearly averages a double-double scoring 11.2 points- and- grabbing a team leading 9.4 rebounds per night. He is also second in the SSC in blocked shots at 1.5 per game. The Panthers score 73.5 per game- while they give up 77.5 per contest.

Rollins Upsets #22 Florida Southern!

The Rollins Tars came up with a big upset over #22 Florida Southern with a 83-69 win over the Mocs at Warden Arena Saturday. With the win the Tars improve to 9-8 and 3-6 in the SSC. With the loss the Mocs fall to 13-4 and 6-3 in the SSC.
  Four of the five Rollins starters scored in double figures in the win. Connor McKim paced the Tars with 17 points and six assists- Jakobi Bonner and Hutton Yenor each had 15. While both Daniel Loh and Eric Castaneda scored 11. Rollins shot 46 percent as a team- 40 percent (10-25) from the 3-point line- and- 88 percent (21-24) at the free throw line. Rollins won the rebounding battle 37-34. They had 16 assists and nine turnovers.
  The Mocs were led by 20 points from Ben Marello- while Brett Hanson had 17- and- Slinky Jones added 13. The Mocs shot 45 percent from the field- 26 percent (6-23) from the 3-point line- and- 64 percent (7-11) from the free throw line. They had 17 assists and 13 turnovers as a team.
  Rollins got off to a quick start and used a 12-0 run to lead 15-3 five minutes in.  Southern came back and cut the lead to three (26-23) with 7:44 in the first half. The Tars would stretch the lead to six (39-33) at the intermission.
  The Mocs would get off to a quick start in the second half and would take a one point lead (47-46.)  Rollins would counter and have a 10 point lead (71-61) with 4:33 to go. The Mocs would get to within six but the Tars would close it out with McKim scoring eight of the last 12 points- while they only allowed one field goal in the final 4:30 minutes.

Rollins-Southern Renew Rivalry Saturday.

On paper Saturday's game between Rollins and Florida Southern is a mismatch. But as they say in rivalry games you can throw the records out the window. The records are Rollins at 8-8 and 2-6 in the SSC- while the 22nd ranked Mocs are 13-3 and 6-2 in the SSC. Tip time from Warden Arena is set for 4 PM. The Tars are in the middle of the pack both offensively (75.1 ppg-) and- defensively (73.2 per contest.)
 The Mocs are tied for second in the SSC. They were a 82-69 winner over Eckerd last time out- and- have won four straight. Ben Marello led the way with 27 points in that one- Brett Hanson scored 17 and grabbed seven rebounds- while Slinky Jones had 13. Johnathan Lawton leads the Mocs in scoring at 21.3 points per game- Hanson scores 16.8 a night and is the leading rebounder at 7.7 per contest. Jones chips in 10.8 points- and- 6.8 rebounds per night. The Mocs score 80 a game- while they give up 76.2 per night.

Rollins Edged By Eckerd Saturday.

The Rollins Tars led most of the way but could not hang on late in a 66-62 loss at Eckerd on Saturday. With the loss the Tars drop to 8-8 and 2-6 in the SSC. Eckerd improved to 12-3 and 5-2 in the SSC with the victory.
  Rollins had three players score in double figures in the defeat. Connor McKim and Jakobi Bonner each scored 13- while Eric Castaneda added 12. The Tars shot 47 percent for the game and 36 percent (8-22) from the 3-point line. They hurt themselves at the free throw line where they shot 50 percent (4-8.)  The Tars had 11 assists and 12 turnovers.
  The Tritons were led by Marco Behori and Gianni Dailey who scored 15 points each- while Drushaun McLaurn added 10 points- six rebounds- and- four assists. Eckerd shot 42 percent as a team- 31 percent (9-29) from the 3-point line- and- 72 percent (13-18) at the free throw line. The Tritons won the rebounding battle 34-29. They had 17 assists and 11 turnovers in the contest.
   The Tars would get a McKim three pointer six minutes into the game that gave them a 10-8 lead. The teams traded basket for the next several minutes and it would be knotted at 19 with 9:20 in the half. Rollins would then go on a 10-3 run to give them a 29-22 lead with 5:38 left in the half. The Tars would take a four point lead (38-34) into the intermission.
  Rollins would stretch the lead to 11 (49-38) with 14:38 to go. The Tars then went cold and the Tritons went on a 7-0 run to get to within four (49-45.) The Tars led by five (57-52) after a Castaneda layup with under six minutes to go. Rollins would have another four minute drought as Eckerd would go on a 9-0 run to go up 61-57 with under two minutes to go. After a Castaneda 3-ball it was a 64-62 Tars deficit with 15 seconds to go. A Rollins turnover and a pair of free throws would seal the Eckerd vicotry that was the Tars fourth straight loss.

Rollins Looks To Get On Track In Saint Pete Saturday,

The Rollins College Tars losers of three straight look to get back on track Saturday when they travel to Saint Pete to battle the Eckerd College Tritons. The game will tip at 4 PM from the McArthur Center. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on RollinsSports.com
  Rollins (8-7 2--5 SSC) was a 75-62 loser at Tampa last time out. Connor McKim led the way with 17 points- Hutton Yenor scored 13- Jakobi Bonner chipped in 11- and- Eric Castaneda had 10 in the defeat. Daniel Loh had a team leading 10 rebounds. Bonner paces the Tars at 15.3 points per game to go along with 4.1 rebounds a contest. McKim puts up 13.3 points and 2.8 assists per night- while Yenor gets 11.2 a night. Rollins scores 75.9 points a game on the offensive end but has really struggled in the last three in which they have scored 65 points or less. On the defensive end they force 18.8 turnovers a game and allow 73.7 per night.
Eckerd (11-3 4-2 SSC) is coming off a big 78-75 overtime win over fourth ranked Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. Drushaun McLaurn led EC with 27 points in the contest. Admir Radoncic scored 12 points and had eight rebounds as well. Myron Hagins also scored in double figures with 11. McLaurn is the leading Tritons scorer at 19.5 a game- that is good for third in the SSC- as he also grabs 8.2 rebounds a night. Hagins also scores in double figures at 12.2 a game. The Tritons are the top defensive team in the SSC allowing 68.7 points a game- while offensively they score a league sixth best 77.1 points a night. The Tritons have dominated the glass this season- as they out-rebound opponents by more than seven per game.

Reeling Rollins Falls At Tampa.

The Rollins Tars lost for the third straight game, all by double digits as they fell 75-62 to the University of Tampa at the Bob Martinez Sports Center Wednesday. With the loss Rollins fell to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the SSC. Tampa improved to 9-5 and 3-3 in the SSC with the victory.
  Rollins had four players tally double figures in the defeat. Connor McKim paced the Tars with 17- Hutton Yenor contributed 13 off the bench- Jakobi Bonner notched 11- and- while Eric Castaneda chipped in 10. Daniel Loh led the Tars on the glass with 10 rebounds. The Tars shot 46 percent from the field as a team- 30 percent (7-23) from the free throw line- as well as shooting 43 percent (3-7) from the free throw line. The Tars had 11 assists and 14 turnovers in the contest.
        The Spartans were led by 23 points from Vincent Biffle- Anthony Gamble notched 22- and- Cedric Belemene posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Spartans shot 43 percent as a team- 29 percent (8-28) from the 3-point line- and- 68 percent (15-22) from the free throw line. The Spartans crushed the Tars on the glass 41-28. They had 15 assists and 13 turnovers as a team.
 Rollins scored the first bucket of the game on a McKim layup before Tampa tallied the next eight. The Tars would tie the game at eight with under 15 minutes in the opening half. Rollins would not score another basket for nearly seven minutes and Tampa would go on a 13-0 run before a Bonner basket cut the lead to 11 (21-10) at the 8:19 mark of the first half. The lead would be trimmed to single digits before the Spartans would take a 15 point lead (38-23) into the locker room.
 Bonner had seven and McKim six to lead Rollins in the opening 20 minutes. They shot 42 percent as a team- 20 percent (2-10) from the 3-point line- and- 33 percent (1-3) from the free throw line. The Tars had two assists and seven turnovers in the opening half.
  Tampa was led by 14 points from Biffle in the opening stanza- Belemene had seven- while  Gamble and Brendan Baker chipped in six each. The Spartans shot 42 percent from the field in the first half- 40 percent (6-15) from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent (6-7) from the free throw line. The Spartans had nine assists and eight turnovers in the opening stanza.
  The Tars scored the first four points of the second half but the Spartans squashed the chances of a second half comeback early in the stanza. Rollins would make one last run to get to within nine (69-60) after a McKim 3-pointer with 2:52 to go. The Spartans would come away with the win that was there fifth in the past six games.
  Rollins has really struggled offensively as they have now scored 65 points or less in three straight games, all conference losses. The Tars will look to get back on track Saturday when they travel to Saint Pete to take on Eckerd. Tip time is set for 4 PM. Rollins Travels To Tampa Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars looking to bounce back after a pair of sub par offensive performances last week will travel to the Bob Martinez Sports Center on the campus of the University of Tampa to battle the Spartans in SSC action Wednesday. Rollins comes in with a record of 8-6 and 2-4 in the SSC. On the other side of the ledger the Spartans come in 8-5 and 2-3 in the SSC.  Rollins is coming off a 71-60 loss to Barry last time out. Jakobi Bonner led the way with 21 points to go along with five rebounds- while Hutton Yenor had 18 with six rebounds. Eric Castaneda had 10 rebounds to lead the Tars on the glass. Bonner comes in as the leading scorer for Rollins averaging 15.6 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. Connor McKim is netting 13 a night and leads the team in assists at 2.6 per contest. Yenor has been instant offense off the Rollins bench as he is scoring 11 per game. The Tars are seventh on the offensive end putting up 76.9 points per game- while on defense they allow 73.6 a night which is fifth in the SSC.
 Tampa comes in winners of four of the last five but was upset by Palm Beach Atlantic last time out.  Cedric Belemene had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Spartans in the loss- Anthony Gamble scored 13- and- Freddy Ibrahim posted 12.  Gamble leads the season box score at 16.9 points per game and also averaging 4.2 rebounds per contest. Tampa is ninth in the SSC in offense scoring 75.7 ppg- while defensively they they allow a league third best 70.4 a night.
  The two teams feature two of the most iconic coaches in all of DII. Tom Klusman has won 701 games in his 38 years at Rollins- while Richard Schmidt has won 703 in his 38 seasons at Tampa.

Barry Gets Past Tars Saturday.

The Rollins Tars lost for the second straight game as they dropped a 71-60 decision to Barry at Warden Arena on Saturday. With the win Barry improves to 10-3 and 5-1 in the SSC. After the loss Rollins falls to 8-6 and 2-4 in the SSC.
  Jakobi Bonner led a pair of Tars in double figures with 21 points- while Hutton Yenor scored 18.  Rollins shot 38 percent as a team- 32 percent (7-22) from the 3-point line.  The Tars also struggled at the free throw line where they shot 44 percent (7-16.)  Rollins had 12 assists and 16 turnovers in the contest. Each team collected 39 rebounds.
 Daniel Mortensen led three Barry players in double figures with 23 points- Tylan Birts had 16- and- Evan Walshe added 14.  The Bucs shot 42 percent from the field- 31 percent (10-32) from the 3-point line- and- 64 percent (9-14) at the free throw line.  The Bucs had 23 assists and 13 turnovers in the contest.
  Both teams had trouble scoring from the out set. Rollins would score the game's first five points and lead 5-0 four minutes in before a Mortensen 3-pointer. Rollins would lead by eight (15-7) after a Yenor 3-pointer three minutes later.  Barry would score the next 11 points and regain the lead.  It would be 18-15 in favor of the Buccaneers at the halfway mark of the half.  It would be a two point game (30-28) Barry at halftime.  Mortensen had 12 and Birts 10 to lead Barry in the opening half.  They shot 38 percent from the field- 28 percent (5-18) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (1-2) at the free throw line.  Barry had 11 assists and seven turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
  Yenor was the only Rollins player in double figures in the opening half with 12.  Bonner added seven- and- Castaneda had five in the opening half. The Tars shot 33 percent from the field- 42 percent (5-12) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (3-4) at the free throw line.  The Tars had seven assists and seven turnovers in the opening half.
  Barry stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half.  The lead would balloon to 18 (62-44) with six minutes to go.  Rollins would trim the lead to single digits (66-57) with 1:58 to go but that is as close as they would get the rest of the way.

Rollins Clashes With Barry Saturday,

The Rollins Tars will be at home Saturday as they take on the Barry Buccaneers at Warden Arena. Tip time is set for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com as well as 91.5 FM WPRK.
  Rollins (8-5 2-3 SSC) is coming off a 92-65 loss to fifth ranked Nova Southeastern at home Wednesday. Eric Castaneda led Rollins with 13 points and five steals in the defeat- while Connor McKim had 11. Jakobi Bonner is leading the season box score for the Tars putting up 15.2 points per game. McKim is scoring 13.8 a night and is leading the team averaging 2.6 assists per contest. Hutton Yenor is also averaging double figures putting up 10.4 per night. The Tars are sixth in the SSC scoring 78.2 points per game but are coming off a tough night against Nova Wednesday when they only scored 65 against the leagues worst defensive team. They allow 73.8 points per night which is fifth in the conference.
 Barry (9-3 4-1 SSC) has won two straight and sits in third place in the SSC. They beat Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle in the last two contests. Daniel Mortensen leads the Bucs scoring 14.3 points and grabbing 5.4 rebounds a game.  Tylan Britts scores 10.4 a game and is grabbing 5.6 rebounds a contest- while Evan Walshe is rounds out the double digit scorers at 10 a game.  Barry is scoring 82.1 points per game which is second in the SSC. They shoot 40 percent as a team from the 3-point line.  The Bucs allow 73.4 per night which is fourth in the conference.

#5 NSU Pummels Rollins Wednesday.

The fifth ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks came to Winter Park with a mission Wednesday and came away with a 92-65 pummeling of the Rollins College Tars at Warden Arena. With the win Nova remained uneaten at 11-0 overall and 5-0 SSC while the Tars fell to 8-5 and 2-3 in the SSC.
   David Dennis led five Sharks in double figures with 24 points to go along with 10 assists- Eddie Puisis added 17- Connor Zinaich had 15- Mikkel Kolstad netted 11- and- Mark Mathews had 10 in the victory.  NSU shot 59 percent as a team- 47 percent (16-34) from the 3-point line- and- 75 percent (6 of 8 at the free throw line.)  The Sharks dominated the boards 38-25.  They had 30 assists and 21 turnovers as a team.
  Rollins was led by 13 points from Eric Castaneda to go along with five steals- while Connor McKim added 11.  The Tars shot 46 percent as a team- 33 percent (8-24) from the 3-point line.  They shot 33 percent (3-9) from the free throw line.  They had 12 assists and 19 turnovers as a team.
  Rollins hung with NSU for the first seven minutes and the game was tied at 17 with 13:10 in the opening half. NSU would take control and lead by as many as 20 before taking a 54-36 lead into the locker room.
 The Tars got to within 18 early in the second half but the lead would be as many as 29 and the Sharks would cruise from there.

#5 NSU Visits Winter Park Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars will be tested right out of the gate to start the calendar year in 2019 when they welcome the fifth ranked Sharks of Nova Southeastern to Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center Wednesday.   Rollins (8-4 2-2 SSC) rebounded from a tough trip to Vegas before the holiday break with a resounding win at Saint Leo on Saturday. The win was the sixth straight for the Tars at the Bowman Activities Center. Hutton Yenor paced the Tars with 17 points- Jakobi Bonner scored 16- and- Connor McKim 14 in the Tars second straight SSC win after a pair of losses to begin conference play. The hot shooting Tars drilled 10 3-pointer's on 16 attempts in the victory. Bonner is the leading scorer for Rollins as he has been for much of the season putting up 16.1 points per night. He is also averaging 4.6 rebounds per contest. McKim is also averaging double digits putting up 14 a game and leads the team in assists at nearly three per contest. Yenor rounds out the double digit scorers putting up 10.5 per night. The Tars are in the middle of the pack offensively as they score 79.3 points per game. On the defensive end they are fourth in the conference surrendering 72.3 per game.
 NSU (10-0 4-0 SSC) comes in as one of just nine undefeated teams remaining in the country in Division II. The Sharks are leading the country in scoring at more than 111 points per game and have eclipsed the century mark in all but two games this season.  The last time out the Sharks disposed of pre season SSC favorite Florida Southern in a 117-95 thrashing.  A pair of Sharks had 30+ points in the contest as Connor Ziniach poured in a game high 39 points- while Mark Matthews netted 31. David Dennis posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.  Despite the high-flying offense that leads both the SSC and the nation the Sharks also are the worst defensive team in the conference surrendering 84.7 points per night.  The Sharks force 24 turnovers a game on the season as they came at you full court for 40 minutes.  Ziniach leads the season box score putting up 22.3 points a game- Matthews averages 20.5 points a night and a team leading 7.9 rebounds per contest.  Dennis puts up 17.2 a game- and- Dwayne Gibson scores 10.7 a night.
