The Rollins Tars were a 79-73 loser to Embry-Riddle at the ICI Center On Wednesday. With the loss Rollins falls to 9-11 overall and 3-9 in the SSC, The Eagles improve to 10-13 and 3-9 in the SSC as they complete the sweep of the season series.
Hutton Yenor led the Tars with 22 points on the game- while Connor McKim netted 15- and- Jakobi Bonner scored nine. Rollins shot 46 percent as a team- 36 percent (8-22) from the 3-point line- and- 92 percent (11-12) at the free throw line. The Tars had 14 assists and eight turnovers as a team.
Embry-Riddle was led by Elijah Jenkins with 29- while Nashad Mackey added 15. Alston Jones only scored six points- but dished out a game high 13 assists. The Eagles shot a blistering 60 percent from the field- 49 percent (16-33) from the 3-point line- and- shot 50 percent (3-6) from the free throw line. The Eagles won the rebounding battle 29-26. They had 25 assists and 16 turnovers as a team.
It would be 26-19 in favor of the Eagles halfway thru the opening half. The Tars would take the lead (32-31) after a Mckim 3-pointer with 4:14 to go in the first stanza. Tylin Locket-Fuller would make a 3-pointer for ERAU at the 1:26 mark- and- the Eagles would take a 43-42 lead into the locker room.
McKim would lead the Tars with 10 in the opening half- while Yenor had eight. The Tars shot 55 percent in the first 20 minutes- 46 percent (5-11) from the 3-point line- and- 83 percent (5-6) from the free throw line. The Tars had nine assists and four turnovers in the half.
The Eagles were led by Jenkins with 20- while three players tallied five points each in the first half. They shot 62 percent as a team- 50 percent (9-18) from the 3-point line- and- 50 percent (2-4) from the free throw line. ERAU had 12 assists and five turnovers in the half.
ERAU came out and scored the first seven points of the second half- before McKim knocked down a triple. The Eagles would lead by 11 (58-47)- before a Yenor 3-ball made it 58-50 at the 14:34 mark. The Tars would battle back once again- and- retake the lead 63-62 after a Yenor 3-ball with 7:05 to go. The two teams would trade baskets- and- then Nick Heard would give the Eagles a 67-65 lead a minute later. Both offenses would go stagnant as the next points would not come until the Eagles got another Heard 3-pointer at the 3:39 mark. The Tars would get to within two (75-73) after a pair of free throws with 44 seconds to go. The Eagles would close the win out with another Jenkins 3-pointer- and- then- he would get a steal at the other end.
