The Rollins Tars (9-10 3-8 SSC) will head to Daytona Beach to battle the Embry-Riddle Eagles( 9-13 2-9 SSC) at the ICI Center Wednesday night. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com.
Rollins was a 80-77 loser to nationally ranked Lynn on Saturday and have lost five of six overall. Hutton Yenor paced the Tars with 20 points off the bench- Eric Castaneda scored 18- Jokobi Bonner had 15- and- Connor McKim added 10. Rollins shot 58 percent from the field- 45 percent from the 3-point line (5-11-) and- 78 percent (14-18) at the free throw line in the losing effort. The Tars had 13 assists and 13 turnovers in the contest.
Rollins fell to Embry-Riddle 81-69 in Winter Park on November 28th. Parker Davis had 20 points- and- Daniel Loh added 11 in the defeat that day. Rollins shot 42 percent from the floor- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line in that contest. They only went to the free throw line nine times- and- made just five in the loss. Rollins had 11 assists and 14 turnovers in that defeat.
Bonner leads the Tars in scoring at 13.5 per night- McKim scores 12.5 per contest- and- Yenor averages 11.2 per night. As a team Rollins averages 75.1 points per game which is good for seventh in the SSC on the offensive end. On defense they allow 74.2 points per night which is fifth in the conference.
ERAU is coming off a 109-98 loss to Nova Southeastern on Saturday. Nashad Mackey paced the Eagles with 24 points- Alston Jones and CJ Henagan each tallied 20- while Luka Majstorovic added 15. ERAU shot 50 percent from the floor- 44 percent (10-23) from the 3-point line- and- 71 percent (10-14) at the free throw line.
In the meeting with the Tars in Winter Park in November five players scored in double figures led by 15 points from Tylin Lockett-Fuller. Nick Heard scored 13- Elijah Jenkins added 12- Majstorovic netted 11- and- Henagan chipped in 10. The Eagles shot 52 percent from the field- 42 percent from the 3-point line (11-26-) and- 75 percent (12-16) from the free throw line.
The Eagles score a league second best 81.7 points a game on the offense end- where they struggle is defensively as they give up a league ninth best 80.1 points per night. They have four players who average double figures on the season. Mackey leads the way putting up 15.7 per night- he also leads the team in rebounding at 11.2 per contest- Majstorovic is not far behind at 15.3 points per game- to go with 6.7 rebounds per contest. Alston Jones scores 14.5 per night- and- Lockett-Fuller averages an even 10 points a night.
