The 2014-15 Sunshine State Conference Tournament goes on for the first time ever without the Rollins Tars. Here are the results from Friday night's action:

#4 Lynn 84 #5 Florida Tech 83 (OT) (line was Lynn by 6.5)
#2 Barry 71 #7 Saint Leo 57 (line was Barry by 10)
#6 Nova Southeastern 91 #3 Tampa 84 (line was Tampa by 7)
So the match ups on Saturday will be:
#1 Florida Southern -7 vs #4 Lynn 5 PM
#2 Barry-9.5 vs #6 Nova Southeastern 7:30 PM
In other SSC news, Kevin Capers of Florida Southern was named the SSC Player Of The Year for the second straight season. The point guard from Florida Southern was just the third player ever to win the conference award twice. The other two were Nick Wolf (Rollins) and Decarlo Deveaux (Tampa.) Corbin Jackson (Florida Tech) won the defensive player of the year award. The first player to achieve that goal since the award was instituted in 2008.
Linc Darner (Florida Southern) was named the coach of the year for the sixth time in eight seasons and third in a row. He joins Tom Klusman (Rollins) and Richard Shmidt (Tampa) as coaches who have won the award. All three coaches are still active.
The newcomer of the year was Eugene McCrory (Tampa.) Jordan Majors (Florida Tech) was named SSC Freshman Of The Year.
