Kevin Capers scored 24 points despite being sick for the past two days and Florida Southern cruised to a 77-62 win over IUP to claim the DII national title. The title was the first for the Mocs since 1981. They were the first South region team to play in the championship game since 1991 and the first champions since 1993. Dylan Travis was big with 18 points off the FSC bench- Bubby Johnson added 11- and- Stephen Battle had 10. The Mocs shot 52 percent from the field and went 13- of- 25- from the 3-point line in the victory.
Devante Chance led IUP with 17 points. Shawn Dyer would add 16- and- Daddy Ugbede scored 12 for the Riverhawks. They only shot 31 percent from the floor- and- went just eight of 29 from the 3-point line.
