The 11th ranked Rollins Tars and Eckerd Tritons will renew there rivalry on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM at Warden Arena. This time around the teams will battle with the winner walking away in first place in the Sunshine State Conference. Last time out, Rollins (9-0 2-0 SSC) rallied from 15 points down late and came away with a thrilling 75-74 win over Nova Southeastern at the Don Taft University Center. Joey Galvis drilled what proved to be the game winning 3-pointers with five seconds left.
Galvis and Jeff Merton paced the Tars with 20, and 19 points respectively in that game. Each of them drilled six 3-pointers in the contest. Sharif Almulla added 18 points and five assists- while Deion Clark scored 12 to go along with nine rebounds.
The Tars come into Saturday leading the nation in free throw shooting (86.3 percent.) They also are fifth in steals per game (11.6,) fifth in scoring margin (19.6,) eighth in 3-pointers made per game (11.2,) and ninth in field goal percentage (Shooting at a 51 percent clip.) The Tars come into Saturday scoring 89.8 points per night.
Rollins has a pair of players averaging double figures on the season. Almulla leads the way at 18.1 points per night- while Merton scores 16.1 a contest. Mike Bedulskis leads the team in rebounding at 4.9 per game.
Eckerd (8-1 3-0 SSC) comes in having won eight straight. The Tritons are coming off a 81-58 pounding of Tampa last time out. Kevin Walsh led the Tritons with 11 points in that victory- while Oby Kyei had 10.
The Tritons come into Saturday putting up 85 points a night. They allow 70.7 points per at the other end.
Kerrick Stevenson leads the team offensively, scoring 14.9 points a game- he is the only Triton to average double figures. Kyei ranks fifth in rebounding at 7.3 per game.
