21st Ranked Tars Make Short Work Of Barry, Tampa Next.

The Rollins College Tars (23-6 13-3 SSC) removed all doubt early in a 83-62 thrashing of Barry in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The Tars shot the ball extremely well on the evening. With Barry poised to stop Nick Wolf early the Tars used some solid three point shooting to build a 25-7 lead after the first ten minutes. The lead would grow to 42-18 by halftime. It would be all Tars in the second half as they would lead by as many as 39 (70-31) in the second half. Nick Wolf led the Tars with yet another double-double. He had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Wolf was 3 from 3 from three point land. Three other Tars tallied double figures on the evening. Senior Matt Robertson had 13 points for the Tars. Nikola Baran drained four triples for his 12 points. Chris Malcolm added 10 points off of the Rollins bench. The Tars shot 50 percent  from the field (28-56). They also made good on 44 percent from three point range (15-34). Rollins made good on 12-14 (86%) at the foul line. They out rebounded Barry 36-30. The Tars had 19 assists and just 8 turnovers.
  Barry saw their season end at 9-18. Three Buccaneers paced them as has been the case all season. Zach Trapp led Barry with 19 points on 5 of 7 from three point land. Evan White netted 13 and Willie Whitfield added 10 points and 9 rebounds. Barry was never in the game as they shot 40 percent (23-58) for the game. They hit 48 percent of the threes they took (11-23). Barry was just 5-9 at the foul line and had 9 miscues to go with 11 assists.
  The Tars will advance to the semifinals at Florida Tech on Saturday night as they will face fourth seeded Tampa (23-6 11-6 SSC). The Spartans and Tars split a pair of meetings in the regular season. Tip time at the Clemente Center is set for 7:30 Saturday night.  Second seeded Florida Southern will face third seeded Eckerd in the other semifinal.
