Tars Outlast Tampa Saturday.

The Rollins College Tars (24-6) beat the Tampa Spartans (22-7) for the second time this season and improved to just 2-7 all time in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament vs the Spartans with a 67-62 win in Melbourne Saturday,
 The Tars held the Spartans scoreless over the game's final 5:04 and advanced to Sunday's championship game. The Eckerd Tritons will be the opponent as they squeaked by Florida Southern 70-69 in the other semifinal. Rollins was led by SSC Player Of The Year Nick Wolf. Wolf netted 25 points on 10-14 shooting including three three pointers. Wolf also had eight rebounds. Three other Tars scored in double figures as well. Matt Robertson, Alex Castillo and Nikola Baran chipped in 10 points each. Rollins shot 19-37 (51 percent) for the game and hit 90 percent of their free throws (26-29). The Tars went 3-11 from three point land.
  Anthony Griffis led Tampa with 23 points. Rashaad Callaway added 17 points on five of 10 three point shooting. UT shot 45 percent from the field and the Tars out rebounded the Spartans 30-18.
  It was Tampa that jumped out to the early lead going ahead 14-3 in the early going. The turning point of the half would come with 8:28 remaining when Callaway picked up his second foul with the Spartans up by 11. The Tars closed the first half on a 20-3 run and led 33-27 at halftime. The Tars used that momentum that they carried into the locker room to go up by 15 (48-33) with 13:34 to go. The Spartans behind the three point shooting of Callaway and Townsend would go on a 21-5 run and regain the lead 54-53. After a pair of Alex Castillo free throws the Tars would have a brief lead before Tampa would go up 62-57 with 5:04 to go. The Tars closed out the game scoring the final ten points for the win.
 The Tars are in the championship game for a second straight year. Last season it was 66-59 the Tars beating Barry. This is Rollins tenth trip to the title game. The Tars defeated Eckerd twice during the regular season. The first a 70-69 win in Winter Park before winning 71-60 in St.Pete. Tip time for the title game is set for 3:30 PM.
