New Look Tars Stymie Sailfish in Opener.

The Rollins College Tars (1-0) used there zone defense to hold down Palm Beach Atlantic (0-1) in a 63-47 season opening win at Rubin Arena in West Palm Friday night.
The Tars were led by three players in double figures. Myk Brown paced the Tars with 19 points, David Diakite added 13 and Jeremy Sharpe netted 10.
Marcus Hardy led PBA with 15 in the loss. Matthew Gierl also scored in double figures with 12.
Rollins shot 43 percent from the field and went 6-22 from the three point line. The real story of the night though was the Tars zone defense holding the Sailfish to 27 percent shooting. The Sailfish were 3-26 from the three point line and shot just 7- 39 overall in the second half.
It was PBA that jumped out to the early 4-0 lead. The Tars would answer right back and go on a 12-2 run after a Sharpe three to take a 12-6 lead. PBA would cut that lead to one (12-11) but again the Tars would answer with a 18-8 run this time to open up a 30-19 lead. PBA would cut that lead to seven (32-25) at halftime.
The Tars put the game away early in the second half. A 20-3 burst to open the half and give the Tars a 53-28 lead would remove all doubt in this one. Rollins will be back in action Friday November 18th when they battle the Royals from Warner University at Warden Arena.
