The Rollins College Tars (4-0) will start their quest for a three-peat in the Sunshine State Conference when they travel to the Bob Martinez Sports Center in Tampa on Wednesday. Rollins has won each of the last two Sunshine State regular season titles and broke into the national Division II rankings this week at number 25. The Tars are led by Jeremy Sharpe (15.5 points a game), Myk Brown (14.5 per contest), while Dave Diakite chips in 11.5 a night. Chris Malcolm has also been solid, averaging nine points and eight rebounds a contest. The Tars lead the conference in steals at 11.8 a night, and are second in blocks (five a game). On the defensive end the Tars opponents are shooting just 38 percent on the season thus far.
Tampa (2-3) is coming off a split in the Eckerd College Classic. After a 70-50 loss to Shaw, the Spartans gained the split with a 53-44 win over Puerto Rico-Bayamon. Tampa comes into Wednesday's contest at the bottom of the SSC in scoring at just 50.2 points a game. They only have one player averaging double figures (Ashton Graham 11.8 ppg). Osby Kelly and Jon Riles add 8.4 and 7.8 points a night respectively. Defensively the Spartans only allow 56.2 points a game. One of the big problems for UT thus far has been foul shooting (57.3 percent).
