The 13th ranked Rollins College Tars (6-0) fresh off a 84-78 win over then #22 Florida Southern welcome the Southeastern University Fire to Warden Arena on Friday. The win over the Mocs vaulted the Tars from 25th to 13th in the NCAA Division II poll this week. The Tars are off to their best start since a 10-0 start to the 2007-08 campaign. The Tars have picked it up of late from both the floor and three point range. Rollins is shooting 52 percent from the floor and 44 percent from the 3-point line in the past three games. Protecting the ball has been an issue for the home team. Rollins has turned the ball over 18.3 times a game thus far, including 25 in the win over Southern. The Tars are led in scoring by Jeremy Sharpe. The Senior from St. Louis comes into Friday's contest averaging 14.7 points per game. Myk Brown is netting 13.3 a night, while Dave Diakite averages 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds a night. Ian Scott rounds out the double figure scorers averaging 10.3 points a contest. Scott will continue to log heavy minutes after going all 40 versus Florida Southern. Brett Chance will once again not be able to go with a knee injury.
Southeastern (9-5) will be playing the second night of a back to back. The Fire fell 82-64 to Florida A&M on Thursday. Chris Carlyle scored 12 points off the bench to lead the Fire. The Fire did have a big win earlier in the season when they took care of Warner University 93-72. The Fire are 1-4 against DII opponents on the season. The lone win was over Tampa. The Fire have faced three SSC teams thus far. They defeated Tampa (66-45), but lost to Eckerd (90-83) and St.Leo (64-53). The Fire are led in scoring by Malcolm Pollock who scores 13.8 points a night. Dwayne Johnson adds 12.4 a contest. Dyami Thurman rounds out the double digit scorers at 10.8 a night. The Fire averaging 78 points a contest while allowing 70 a night.
