Three Point Barrage Sinks Tars.

Coming into the Great Western Shootout, the Rollins College Tars (7-2) were allowing just 59 points a game. In each of the past two contests the Tars opponent has surpassed the 80 point plateau. Friday night it was Central Washington (7-3) who put 88 points on the Tars in a 88-80 win over tenth ranked Rollins.
The Wildcats hit 13 of 32 attempts (41 percent from the 3-point line.). They were led by four players in double figures on the evening. Brandon Magee (20 points) and Jordan Colby (15) accounted for ten of the Wildcats 13 3-pointers. Lacy Haddock chipped in 13, including 2 of 4 from three. Kevin Davis added 12 points for Central Washington.
The Tars were led by a career high 28 points from  all tournament team member Chris Malcolm, along with six rebounds. Jeremy Sharpe poured in 18, while Myk Brown netted 12 in the loss.
The Wildcats shot 46 percent from the field to 45.9% for the Tars. The Tars were just 6-19 (32 percent) from three, as opposed to the 41 percent of the Wildcats. CWU shot 17-22 (73 percent) from the foul line to the Tars 18-26 (69 percent). CWU won the rebounding battle 37-33. CWU had 20 turnovers to 18 for the Tars.
It was the Wildcats who jumped out to the early 8-2 lead in this one. CWU led for a majority of the first half but only took a one point lead (37-36) into halftime. The Wildcats would stretch that lead to nine points before the Tars would battle back and cut it to a one point game with nine minutes to go. The next 1:20 would belong to Magee and Troy Gross. The duo stretched the lead to nine with 6:25 to go. The Tars would cut the lead to three on a Ian Scott layup with just under four minutes left, but that is as close as they would get.
The Tars will be back home for the Winter Park Rotary Tangerine Tournament December 29th and 30th. The Lake Erie Storm will be the opponent on the 29th, with California (PA) and West Georgia rounding out the tournament field.
