The Rollins Tars will open the regular season and home portions of their 2012-13 schedule when they host the Warner University Royals on Friday night at Warden Arena.
The Tars played one exhibition game at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. It was a 73-66 loss to Wake Forest. The Tars have six DI transfers on this season's squad. Dave Diakite is the team's leading returning scorer at 10.2 points a game. The team features six DI transfers. Mitch Woods (Appalachain State) led the Tars vs Wake with 14 points. Former Florida Gators Kyle McClanahan and Adam Allen had 13 and 12 points respectively for Rollins. The Tars were tabbed to finish fourth in the preseason Sunshine State Conference standings. Saint Leo was picked to win the conference. Florida Southern and Eckerd were picked second and third in the league.
Warner comes into the contest having played five games already. The Royals are 4-1 on the season. The lone Royals loss was against Sterling College. The high powered offense for Warner averages 90 points a game. Mark St.Fort is off to a great start for the Royals. St.Fort comes into Friday's contest averaging 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Ian Wilhelm averages 18.6 points a night including four 3-pointers a contest.
