The Rollins Tars 15-5 (7-3 SSC) look to get back on track when they take on the Florida Tech Panthers at Warden Arena Wednesday night.
After starting conference play winning six games in a row the Tars have dropped three of the last four conference games to fall into third place in the league. Rollins is coming off a 70-66 loss to Tampa last Wednesday. Rollins comes into the game fourth in the league in offense at 73.4 points per game. The Tars are second in the SSC on the defensive end allowing 65.6 points a contest. Kyle McClanahan paces three Tars in double figures at 14.5 points per game, he also is dishing out five assists a night. Dave Diakite (14.3 ppg) and Adam Allen (10.4 ppg) also average double figures on the season. The Tars continue to lead the SSC in both field goal percentage (48 percent) and 3-point percentage (40 percent.)
Florida Tech comes in on a three game win streak and sits at 10-10 overall and 3-7 in the conference. The Panthers are coming off a big 70-69 win at Eckerd on Saturday. The trio of Chris Carter (24 points,) Jermaine Jackson (20) and Terrance Tubbs 11, accounted for 55 of the Panthers 70 points. The Panthers come into Winter Park averaging 80.6 points a game, while they give up 74.4 at the other end. Four Panthers average double digits on the season. Carter paces FIT at 19.2 a game, Jackson puts in 17.5, Reid nets 14.6 and Tubbs chips in 11.3.
In the first meeting at the Clemente Center Rollins coach Tom Klusman picked up win number 500 with a 74-62 win. Carter was the only Panther in double figures in that one scoring 23. McClanahan, Diakite and Brett Chance all scored in double figures in the first meeting.
