Tars Woes Continue at Leo.

For the Rollins Tars in the remainder of the 2014-15 season they will be looking to find the positives in what has been a woeful season.  On Saturday Rollins lost for the 10th consecutive time, this one a 69-58 loss to the Lions of Saint Leo.
A Saint Leo team that has had trouble scoring all season (last in the conference) put four players in double figures Saturday. The Lions (12-11 4-7 SSC) were paced by a double-double from Ron Foxx (15 points and 13 rebounds-) Devin Crisosto added 13- while Marcus Dewberry posted 11- and-Edmuns Dukulis chipped in 10.  The Lions snapped a four game losing slide with the win.  They shot the ball very well from the field (52 percent) and the free throw line (86 percent.)  The Lions did not find much success from the 3-point line, going 7-21.  Leo won the rebounding battle 30-22. They had 11 assists and 19 turnovers in the victory.
Rollins (7-15 0-10 SSC) was led by a trio of players in double figures.  Alex Blessig led the way with 14 points- Kyle Koszuta tied his career high with 11 off the bench- while Jeff Merton (10 points) scored in double figures for the fourth straight game.  The Tars shot 41 percent as a team.  They could not find the range from the 3-point line where they shot 28 percent (6-21.)  The Tars shot 70 percent (16-23) at the foul line.  They had just seven assists and 15 turnovers.
As expected points were at a premium at the beginning of this one.  The Tars trailed 14-10 after a Koszuta layup before the Lions would run off the next four points to take a 18-10 lead halfway thru the opening half.  The Tars would stay within striking distance and would pull to within four a few times but a 3-pointer by Taylor Bassett would give Saint Leo a 32-25 lead heading into the locker room.
The Tars were behind by nine early in the second half but would get to within six (38-32) after a Merton basket with 15:34 to go in the game.  Foxx would then convert a conventional 3-point play that would spark the Lions to a 15 point lead (53-38) at the 10:48 mark.  The Lions would cruise to the victory from there.
Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they head to Miami Shores to take on third ranked Barry. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.
