Tom Klusman will coach his 1000th game of his storied coaching career when he and the Rollins Tars head to Miami Shores to battle Sixth ranked Barry at the Sport and Health Center. Klusman has won eight Sunshine State Conference titles, four Sunshine State Conference Tournaments and made eight NCAA DII tournaments.
The Tars (7-15 0-10) will look to snap a 10 game losing streak Wednesday. The last time out the Tars were a 69-58 loser at Saint Leo. Alex Blessig led the way with 14 points- Kyle Koszuta tied his career high with 11- and- Jeff Merton netted 10.
Blessig comes into the contest averaging 10.8 points- 3.7 assists- and- 2.3 steals a night. Merton is having a big freshman year- the Naples native is averaging 10.2 points and 4.7 rebounds a night. Chris Uhle is averaging 10 points per night.
Barry comes in winners of 13 of the last 14. The lone loss being to Florida Southern a week ago. Last time out was a 99-75 win for the Buccaneers against Palm Beach Atlantic. Four Bucs scored in double figures in the win over PBA. Yunio Barrueta led the way pouring in 31 points- and- grabbing 12 rebounds. Juan Ferrales added 12- Arie Williams scored 11- and- Savad Gardner contributed 10 in the win.
Barrueta comes into the game second in the SSC at 19.7 points per game- he adds nine rebounds a night. Ferrales puts up 13 points a contest- while Anders Haas scores 11.3 a night. Deric Hill leads the SSC and is third in the nation with 159 assists.
The Tars held a nine point halftime lead but could not hold on in the first meeting in Winter Park. Chris Uhle had a career high 23 for Rollins in the loss. Barrueta had 19 and Hill added 17 for then third ranked Barry in the 73-64 victory.
