The Rollins Tars needed a bounce back game after a pair of tough losses to start conference play. They got back on track in a big way as they rolled past Warner 98-57. With the win the Tars improve to 6-2 on the season and 0-2 in the SSC. With the loss Warner falls to 7-5 on the season.
Five Tars scored in double figures in the victory. Hutton Yenor led the way with a career high 21 points- Connor McKim netted 20- Trevor Recio tallied 18- Jakobi Bonner added 11- and- Marcus Camacho scored in double digits with 10. With the victory Tom Klusman now has 699 career wins. The Tars shot 49 percent from the field- and- 40 percent from the 3-point line. They shot at a 86 percent clip at the free throw line (12-14.) The Tars had 26 assists and 13 turnovers in the game. They easily won the rebounding battle 44-33.
The Royals were led by Khalil Ozuna who was the only Royal in double figures with 15 points. Joseph Martz added eight off the bench. The Royals shot 32 percent from the field- 26 percent from the 3-point line- and- 76 percent at the free throw line. They had 13 assists and 24 turnovers as a team.
After falling behind 4-0 early the Tars would get a 3-pointer from McKim to get on the board at the 17 minute mark of the first half. Ozuna would give the Royals a 6-3 lead with a jumper, then the Tars would go to work. Rollins would go on a 24-0 run to go up 27-6 with 9:09 in the first half. Rollins would take a 20 point lead (46-26) into the halftime break.
With 13 minutes to go the lead would grow to 35 (66-31) for the Tars. Warner would not get any closer than 29 the rest of the way, as the Tars would lead by as many as 42 in the convincing win.
