Tars Look To Get Back On Track As Tampa Visits Warden Arena.

 The Rollins College Tars (4-4 0-3 SSC) look to get back on track tomorrow (Saturday 12/13) as the University of Tampa Spartans (4-3 0-2 SSC) visit Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK WinterPark and on the Sunshine State Conference Digital network at SunshineStateConference.TV with Robert Segal and Jim "Shooter" Ferro on the call. Tip time is slated for 4 PM. 

 Rollins has dropped its last two contests and looks to get back on track after taking the week off to this point to concentrate on Final exams. Last time out the Tars were a 93-88 loser at Florida Southern. Jah Nze paced the Tars with 24, Omar Figueroa netted 16, and Marshall Klug tallied 12 in the defeat. Rollins shot 47.5 percent from the field, 44 percent (11-25) from the 3-point line, and 79.2 percent (19-24) at the free throw line. Rollins scores 88.1 points per game game which is seventh in the SSC while they are the second best defensive team in the league when it comes to points allowed (73.5 per night.) Rollins shoots an SSC second best 47.5 percent from the field as well as an SSC second best 38.7 percent from the 3-point line. They knock down an SSC fifth best 10.9 triples per night as a team. They shoot at a 68.3 percent clip from the free throw line which is good for 8th in the SSC. They are sixth in the conference as well dishing out 18.75 assists per night. On the defensive end they are fourth in field goal percentage against (43 percent,) sixth in 3-point defense (34.7 percent) and tied for the top spot in the conference getting 14.4 (43.8-29.4) more rebounds than the opposition. The Tars are seventh in turnover margin (-0.13,) sixth in assist to turnover ratio (+1.53,) block an SSC eighth best 3.25 shots per game and steal the ball an SSC fifth best 7.88 times per contest. Nze leads the team and is seventh in the conference averaging  17.1 points per game while Figueroa is also top 10 in the conference putting up 16.9 points per night. Matus Malovec leads the team pulling down a team high six boards per contest while Figueroa continues to shoot the ball extremely well. He is shooting an SSC fifth best 54.3 percent from the field, he shoots 52 percent from the 3-pont line which is good for second in the conference, and knocks down an SSC third best 3.3 treys per night. Klug leads the team and is 10th in the conference in free throw shooting (82.8 percent.) Figueroa also leads the team in assists (3.3) and assist to turnover ratio (2.0.) Ryan Renfro is tied for eighth in the conference swatting 1.1 shots per game while Nze gets 1.9 steals per contest which is tied for fifth in the league. Figueroa also leads the team in minutes played at 28.9 per game. 

 Tampa is coming off an 88-76 loss to Eckerd last time out. Trey Lane led the Spartans with 20, BJ Schaeffer had 14, and Ryan Blount added 12. Tampa scores an SSC fifth best 91 points per game while they give up an SSC 10th best 82.9 points per contest. They shoot 46.3 percent from the field which is sixth in the SSC, while they shoot just 30.5 percent from long range which is 10th in the conference. UT shoots 71.5 percent at the free throw line which is sixth in the league. They also dish out an SSC third best 20 assists per night. The Spartans are middle of the pack (sixth SSC) in field goal percentage against (43 percent) and third at guarding the 3-point line (30 percent.) Tampa is getting 1.6 (40-38.4) more rebounds than the opposition. They are fourth in turnover margin (1.14) as well as assist to turnover ratio (1.69.) They block an SSC third best four shots per game and steal the ball an SSC fourth best 8.43 times per game. Lane leads the team netting 16.3 points per game while Schaeffer gets 15.7 per contest. Blount is tied for the conference lead in rebounding pulling down 9.3 per game as well. Schaeffer shoots the ball at a 57.9 percent clip which sits third in the SSC. At the free throw line Lane leads the SSC knocking down 95.5 percent while Blount is third at 94.4 percent. Blount also leads the team in assists at four per night. Camden McCormick leads the team and is second in the SSC in assist to turnover ratio (3.9.) Kyler Lamb blocks 0.7 shots per game and Lane gets an SSC second best 2.9 steals per contest. Blount (33.3 minutes per night) and McCormick (29 minutes per game) are fifth and ninth respectively in the league in minutes played.
