Tars Set To Battle Florda Tech In Midweek Clash

 The Rollins College Tars battle the Florida Tech Panthers at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center on Wednesday night (12/3) as they look for a second straight win.  Rollins (4-2 0-1 SSC) looks to get on the board with a first conference win on Wednesday after falling at Lynn in the conference opener. The Tars are coming off a 119-49 drubbing of Warner last time out. Six Tars scored in double figures with Omar Figueroa leading the way with 16 points. Michael Niemann added 14 off the bench, Jackson Gaffney tallied 13, Michael Kalina and Cheo James each had 12, while Jah Nze notched 10. The Tars come into Wednesdays contest scoring 92 points per game which is good for seventh in the SSC while on the defensive end they are the second best team in the in the SSC only allowing 72.7 points per night. The Tars are second in the SSC shooting at a 49.9 percent clip on the year while they are third in conference shooting 39.5 percent from the 3-point line. They are fourth and fifth respectively in opponent field goal percentage and 3-pointer percentage against. The Tars are 10th in the SSC shooting at just 67.8 percent from the free throw line. The Tars are the top team in the SSC when it comes to rebounding margin as they are grabbing an astounding 17.7 (45.7-28) more rebounds per game  than the opposition. Rollins is ninth in turnover margin (-1.33) and fifth in assist to turnover ratio. They block an SSC seventh best 3.17 shots per game and are fourth in assists dishing out 21 per contest. They also get 7.67 steals per game which is sixth in the SSC. Nze leads the team and is ninth in the SSC getting 17.2 points per game, Gaffney  and Matus Malovec lead the team in rebounding at 5.3 per night, Figueroa has shot the lights out in the early season as he leads the conference in 3-point percentage (56.8 percent) and is fourth in field goal percentage (55.6 percent.) Figueroa also leads the team in assists at 3.2 per game as well as being sixth in assist to turnover ratio. The Florida Tech Panthers (3-4 0-1 SSC) have won three straight after an 0-4 start. The Panthers defeated Albany State 94-74 last time out. Noah Van Bibber paced Tech with 20, Ty Harpring added 19, while both Greyson Williams and Darrius Ca'Sowell notched 10. Florida Tech is 11th in the league in both scoring (77.3 points per game) and defense (allowing 85 points per night.) They shoot an SSC ninth best 45.4 percent from the field while they are 11th in opponent field goal percentage (47.9 percent.) The Panthers shoot 34.5 percent from the 3-point line (ninth SSC) and are also ninth in guarding the 3-point line (36.6 percent.) The Panthers shoot 67.7 percent from the free throw line which is ninth in the conference as well. The Panthers are ninth in rebounding as they are being out rebounded by 1.7 (35.4-37.1) boards per contest. Tech is 11th in turnover margin and 10th in assist to turnover ratio. Sowell leads the team in scoring at 12 points per game while Xavier Ford-Belton (11.7 per night) also averages double figures. Ford-Belton grabs 7.7 rebounds per contest which is sixth in the SSC. Williams leads the team and is sixth in the SSC dishing out 4.9 assists per game and is 10th in assist to turnover ratio. Ford-Belton leads the team swatting 0.7 shots per game as well.
