Rollins Travels To Saint Leo For Saturday SSC Tilt

 The Rollins College Tars (10-8 4-6 SSC) travel to Davie, Fl to take on the Saint Leo Lions (6-12 1-9 SSC) at the Marion Bowman Activities Center on Saturday (1/24.)  The game is slated to begin at 4 PM.  Led by the trio of Omar Figueroa (28 points, ) Jah Nze (23 points,) and Ricky Ghedini (21 points) the Tars were a 96-88 winner over Embry-Riddle on Wednesday night. Rollins shot 49.2 percent from the field, 45.5 percent (10-22) from the 3-point line, and 74.3 percent (26-35) at the free throw line. The Tars score 82.9 points per game (9th SSC) and give up 75.3 points per contest (2nd SSC.) Rollins shoots 45.6 percent from the field (6th SSC,) 35.5 percent from the 3-point line (5th SSC,) and 74.8 percent from the free throw line (3rd SSC.) Rollins gets 9.6 more rebounds than the opposition per game (40.4-30.8) which is good for second in the SSC. They are -1.72 in turnover margin (9th SSC) and have a 1.22 assist to turnover ratio (6th SSC.) They also dish out 16.83 assists per game which is 5th in the SSC. The Tars are 5th in the conference allowing the opposition to shoot 32.5 percent from the 3-point line, and are 8th in opponent field goal percentage (43.9 percent.) They block 2.89 shots per game (9th SSC) and get 7.33 steals per game (7th SSC.) Nze leads the team and is 6th in the conference putting up 18.1 points per game while Figueroa gets 15.7 points per contest. Matus Malovec continues to lead the team in rebounding at 5.7 boards per contest, while Figueroa shoots 47.1 percent from the field (9th SSC) and 45.5 percent from the 3-point line (2nd SSC.) Marshall Klug (89.7 percent) and Nze (77.8 percent) are 5th and 10th respectively in free throw percentage. Figueroa knocks down 2.8 triples per night (6th SSC) while he dishes out a team leading 2.9 assists per contest. Figueroa also leads the team in assist to turnover ratio (1.7.) Ryan Renfro blocks 0.7 shots per game while Nze (1.5 steals per game, 5th SSC) and Figueroa get (1.4 steals per game, 8th SSC.) Nze plays 29.8 minutes per game (10th SSC.) 

Saint Leo comes into Saturday on a seven game losing skid. The last win for the Lions was on December 19th against American International. Last time out Saint Leo was drubbed by Nova Southeastern 126-74. Jayden Johnson scored 14, Luther Smith added 13, Matt Ansah tallied 12, and Owen Pawlowski netted 11 in the lopsided loss. The Lions struggled shooting the ball (46.8 percent from the field,) 36.4 percent (12-33) from the 3-point line, and 28.6 percent (4-14) at the free throw line. They also turned the ball over 28 times which led to 43 NSU points. Saint Leo scores 78 points per game (10th SSC) and gives up 84.3 points per night (11th SSC.) They shoot 42.4 percent from the field (11th SSC,) 33.1 percent from the 3-point line (11th SSC,) and 66.8 percent from the free throw line (10th SSC.) They get out rebounded by 4.1 boards per contest (35.7-39.8) which is also 11th in the SSC. They are -0.17 in turnover margin (6th SSC) and have a 1.02 assist to turnover ratio (11th SSC.) The Lions dish out 13.5 assists per game (11th SSC) as well. They are 11th in opponent field goal percentage (46.9 percent.) They are 9th in opponent 3-point percentage (35.2 percent) while they block 2.39 shots per game (11th SSC.) They steal the ball 7.61 times per game (5th SSC.) Donovan Hill leads the team scoring an SSC 10th best 15.9 points per night, Camden Carese adds 15.6 per contest (has only played 10 games,) Smith gets 12.6 per night, Pawlikowski nets 12.2 per game, and Ansah scores 10.3 per night. Hill leads the team and is 3rd in the SSC hauling in 8.4 rebounds per night, Hill also shoots a team leading 40.1 percent from the field. Hill shoots 37.9 percent from the 3-point line which is top 20 in the SSC while his 2. 6 made triples per night are 10th in the SSC. Hill also leads the team in assists at 2.9 per contest as well as blocking 0.6 shots per game. He picks up 1.4 steals per game while leading the SSC playing 35.3 minutes per night. 

  Rollins won the first meeting between the two teams 85-74 on 12/31/25. Figueroa led the Tars with 22, Jackson Gaffney added 14, Nze scored 13, Ryan Renfro tallied 12 to go along with 12 rebounds, and Mayson Quartlebaum netted 11. Rollins shot 46.2 percent from the field, 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line, and 81 percent (17-21) from the free throw line.

 Saint Leo was paced by Hill who stuffed the stat sheet with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. Smith added 13 and Ansah scored 10. The Lions shot 41.3 percent from the field, 25 percent (6-24) from the 3-point line, and 80 percent (16-20) from the free throw line.
