Surging Rollins Heads To Miami for SSC Battle with Barry

 The surging Rollins College Tars (8-5 2-3 SSC) winners of three of four take on the Barry Buccaneers (6-6 1-3 SSC) tomorrow (Saturday 1/3) at the Health & Sports Center on the Barry campus. Tip time is set for 4PM.  Rollins is coming off a 85-74 win at home over Saint Leo last time out (seven of the Tars eight wins have come at home.) Omar Figueroa led five Tars in double figures with 22 points. He was joined by Jackson Gaffney with 14, Jah Nze had 13, Ryan Renfro tallied 12 to go along with 12 rebounds, and Mayson Quartlebaum netted 11. Rollins shot 46.2 percent from the field, 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line, and 81 percent (17-21) at the free throw line. They dominated the glass with a 51-26 rebounding advantage. Rollins scores 86 points per game (7th in the SSC) while they give up 72.2 points per night (second in the SSC.) They shoot an SSC third best 47.3 percent from the field as well as an SSC third best 37.3 percent from the 3-point line to go along with an SSC fourth best 73.4 percent from the free throw line. They are eighth in turnover margin (-1.54,) sixth in assist to turnover ratio (1.41) and fifth in assists (18.46 per game.) The Tars are fourth in opponent field goal percentage (41.9 percent,) sixth at guarding the 3-point line (33 percent) and continue to lead the SSC in rebounding margin at 14.5 (43.8-29.3) more rebounds than the opposition. They also block an SSC eighth best 2.85 shots per game and get an SSC eighth best 6.92 steals per game. Nze leads the team and is seventh in the SSC getting 18.1 points per game, Figueroa scores 15.7 per night, while Matus Malovec and Renfro lead the team in rebounding at 5.7 per night. Nze shoots a team leading 44.4 percent from the floor while Figueroa is the top the top 3-point shooter in the league (48.8 percent.) He is also fourth in triples per game at 3.1. Marshall Klug leads the team shooting an SSC sixth best 87.2 percent from the free throw line. Figueroa also leads the team in assists (2.9 per game) and assist to turnover ratio (1.7 which is good for 10th in the SSC.) Renfro leads the team in blocks (0.8 per game) while Nze leads in steals (SSC fourth best 1.8 per night.) Figueroa is also 10th in minutes played in the league at 29.7 per contest. 

 Barry is coming off a 71-58 win over Webber International last time out. Deon Perry paced the Buccaneers with 18, Marko Sarenac added 16 to go along with 14 rebounds, while Breno Silva tallied 10. The Bucs shot 40.9 percent from the field, 25.7 percent (9-35) from the 3-point line, and 61.5 percent (8-13) from the free throw line. Barry scores 83.9 points per game (9th SSC) while they give up 75.2 points per night (third SSC.) They shoot 44 percent from the field (9th SSC,) 34.7 percent from the 3-point line (8th SSC,) lead the conference in free throw percentage (76.8 percent,) are seventh in rebounding margin at +2.8 (41.8-39.0.) BU is sixth in turnover margin (-0.33) and seventh in assist to turnover ratio (1.24.) They dish out an SSC seventh best 17 assists per game as well. On defense they are second in opponent field goal percentage (39.6 percent,) fourth in opponent 3-point percentage (29.6 percent,) third in blocked shots (4.42 per game) and sixth in steals (7.33 per game.) Perry leads Barry and is fourth in the SSC scoring 18.5 points per game while Tarrance Warren (14.2 per night) and Sarenac (12.6 per game) also average double figures. Sarenac is leading the league in rebounding at 10.7 per contest while Perry leads the team shooting 42.6 percent from the field, 44.2 percent from the 3-point line  on 2.8 made triples per contest  and 93.6 percent at the free throw line (second SSC.) Ryan Van Yeck leads the team in assists at 3.4 per game and assist to turnover ratio (1.3.) Novak Perovic leads the team in blocks (0.6 per game) and Warren leads the team in steals (1.3 per night.) Perry is eighth in minutes played at 30.3 per game.
