Tars Take On Eagles In SSC Clash In WinterPark

 The Rollins College Tars (9-8 3-6 SSC) and the Embry-Riddle Eagles (8-8 5-4 SSC) will clash in WinterPark tomorrow night (1/22) at 7:30 PM. The game will take place at Warden Arena. As always you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK WinterPark and worldwide at RollinsSports.com 

 Rollins  has been solid at home this season as evidenced by the 7-2 record that they carry into tomorrow's contest. The Tars have faced stiff competition of late, as their last two opponents are top 10 teams in the country. After a loss to Nova Southeastern, in the most recent contest Rollins fell 87-70 to #6 Palm Beach Atlantic. With that win the Sailfish remained perfect at home (12-0) on the season and stayed in a tie atop the conference with the Sharks. Jackson Gaffney scored 18 points on Saturday and has now scored in double figures in four consecutive games. The Tars two leading scorers on the season, Jah Nze and Omar Figueroa added 17 and 14 points respectively in the loss. The Rollins offense was stifled by the Sailfish who held them to 35.6 percent shooting from the field and 26.5 percent from long range (9-34.) Rollins scores 82.1 points per game (9th SSC) while they give up 74.5 points per night (2nd SSC.) They shoot 45.4 percent from the floor (6th SSC) as well as 35 percent from the 3-point line (6th SSC,) and 74.8 percent from the free throw line (3rd SSC.) The Tars are -2.00 in turnover margin (9th SSC) and have a 1.21 assist to turnover ratio (6th SSC.) They also dish out 16.88 assists per night (5th SSC.) Defensively Rollins allows the opposition to shoot 43.8 percent from the field (8th SSC,) 32.4 percent from the 3-point line (5th SSC,) and are getting 10.2 more rebounds than the opposition per night (40.8-30.6) which is second in the SSC. They block 3.06 shots per game (8th SSC) while they get 7.24 steals per game (8th SSC.) Nze leads the team and is seventh in the conference getting 17.8 points per game while Figueroa scores 15 points per night. Matus Malovec pulls down a team leading 5.6 rebounds per night. Figueroa shoots at a 44.3 percent clip from the 3-point line (2nd SSC) on 2.8 made triples per game. Marshall Klug leads the team shooting 89.3 percent from the free throw line (5th SSC) as Nze shoots 78.1 percent from the charity stripe (10th SSC.) Figueroa also leads the team in assists (2.9 per contest) while Nze is getting 1.8 steals per night (4th SSC.) Nze is also playing 29.7 minutes per night (10th SSC.) 

Embry-Riddle comes into tomorrow's contest with just one true road win on the season. The last time out they were a 107-87 loser to Tampa. Jared Berry led the Eagles in double figures with 19 points, Jack Klinger added 19, Logan Lewis tallied 15, and Evan Montanari put up 13. ERAU shot 44.8 percent from the field, 40 percent from the 3-point line (10-25) and 77.3 percent at the free throw line (17-22) in the loss. As a team the Eagles score 88.2 points per game (4th SSC,) while they give up 81.9 points per night (10th SSC.) They shoot 46.5 percent from the field (3rd SSC,) lead the league in 3-point percentage (38.4 percent) and free throw percentage (79.4 percent.) They get 5.7 more rebounds than the opposition (41.8-36.1 per night) while they are -2.75 in turnover margin (10th SSC.) The 1.08 assist to turnover ratio is last in the SSC. They dish out 15.44 assists per game (10th SSC.) Defensively, the opposition shoots 42.9 percent from the field (5th SSC) and 33.7 percent from the 3-point line (7th SSC.) They block 4.06 shots per game (3rd SSC) and get 6.56 steals per game (10th SSC.) Berry gets 19.3 points per game (4th SSC) while Dawson Barr puts up 15 points per contest.
