Tars Head To Atlanta.

The Rollins Tars coming off a solid campaign a season ago open the 2016 season at the SSC/SIAC Crossover in Atlanta Friday.
Rollins was 21-9 a season ago, won a share of the SSC regular season title and earned a bid to the NCAA South Regional. The Tars return five of the top six scorers that they had a season ago.  In exhibition play Rollins was a 89-71 winner over Wooster in the only tuneup they had for the regular season.
Clark Atlanta will be the Tars opponent Friday. They are picked fourth in the SIAC East Division.
Rollins will be paced by Jeff Merton who was a first team All SSC member a year ago.  Merton put up 15.5 points and 4.6 rebounds a game, and is back for his junior season.  Sam Philpott scored 27 in the exhibition contest.  He was second on the team averaging 13.1 points per night.  Deion Clark averaged nearly 10 points a game, while Mike Bedulskis returns after averaging 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds a night.  Tom Klusman is one of the best coaches in DII and comes into the season with a 653-382 record.
Clark-Atlanta guard Tim Anderson averaged 14 points per game a year ago and was named to the SIAC All Preseason team as a junior.  Derek Harper returns after averaging 13.5 points a game last season.  Darrell Walker is the new coach for Clark-Atlanta.
