Tars Host Tarzans Friday.

The Rollins Tars open their 2016-17 home slate with a Friday matchup with Puerto Rico Mayaguez. The Tars come in with a 2-0 record on the season. On the other hand Mayaguez comes in at 0-4.
  Last time out Rollins was a 92-85 winner at Embry-Riddle. This was after the Tars split a pair of games in the SSC/SIAC crossover in Atlanta. Jeff Merton leads the Tars in the early season averaging 16.7 points a contest- Sam Philpott is coming off a career high 22 vs ERAU and is right behind Merton averaging 16 a game. The Tars are 11-0 all time against Mayaguez.  Last time the two teams met Rollins come out on top 91-83 in Winter Park on November 24 th of last season.
  The Tarzans are coming off a tough 68-67 loss to Tampa the last time out.  Alexis Parilla is leading the Tarzans at 19.3 a game. Parilla posted a double-double (24 points and 12 rebounds) in the loss to Tampa.  He also averages 8.8 points a night.  A pair of other Mayaguez players are averaging double figures thus far.  Alexander Curret is scoring 15.5 points a night and averages 4.8 assists a contest. Ramon Calderon has been solid as well, averaging 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a night.
