Complete Effort Pushes Rollins Past Benedict Friday.

The Rollins Tars got a complete effort Friday and ultimately came away with a 72-60 win in the first game of the SSC/SIAC Crossover at the Clemente Center at Florida Tech. With the win Rollins improved to 1-0- while Benedict fell to 0-1 on the year.
  Jakobi Bonner led four Rollins players in double figures with 18 points on the afternoon.  Daniel Loh posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the victory- while Hutton Yenor scored 13. Connor McKim rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 for Rollins.  The Tars shot 48 percent as a team- 33 percent (6-18) from the 3-point line- and- 77 percent (20-26) from the free throw line.  Rollins won the rebounding battle 40-28. They had 11 assists and 19 turnovers as a team.
  Benedict was led by Kelvin Omojola who scored 18 points in the contest- while Romello Jones scored 16- and- Aaron Bryant added 13. The Tigers shot 36 percent from the floor- 25 percent (5-20) from the 3-point line- and- 68 percent (13-19) from the free throw line.  The Tigers had 11 assists and 12 turnovers.
  After a Loh 3-pointer with under 15 minutes to go the Tars led 10-9.  It would be 21-16 Rollins midway thru the opening half.  The Tars would stretch the lead to seven and then a 3-pointer by Christian Munson would make it a 10 point Rollins lead. They would carry a 10 point lead (35-25) into the locker room.
  Bonner would drain a 3-pointer to open the second half scoring for Rollins, the lead would remain in double digits before Omojola knocked down a 3-pointer at the 12:18 mark that cut the lead to nine.  Benedict would get as close as three (47-44) at the 9: 28 mark but that is as close as they would get.  Yenor would hit a big 3-pointer with just under seven minutes to go and it was a 56-47 Rollins lead.  Rollins would maintain the lead and coast to the victory.
 The Tars will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Auburn-Montgomery. Tip time is set for 3:30 PM at the Clemente Center. As always you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK and on RollinsSports.com
