The Rollins Tars open the home portion of the 2018-19 basketball season when they take on the Gyrenes of Ave Maria Monday. Tip time is set for 7 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com as well as 91.5 FM WPRK.
Rollins (2-0) opened the season with a sweep of the SSC/SIAC crossover when they soundly defeated both Benedict (72-60) and Auburn Montgomery (86-76.)The Tars were paced by junior Jakobi Bonner who averaged 22.5 points over the weekend. Bonner poured in a career high 27 points in the win over UAM on Saturday. Connor McKim continued to be a stellar floor general, as he averaged 14.5 points and five assists in the two contests. Daniel Loh also had a solid start to the season, as he tallied 12 points and 7.5 rebounds per night.
Ave Maria (4-0) was picked to finish ninth in the Sun conference but are off to a hot start. The Gyrenes pummeled Trinity Baptist 81-54 on Friday. Greenan Sullivan paced the Gyrenes with 21 points- as they hit a school record 15 3-pointer's in the contest. Leo Behrend is averaging 28 points per game in the first two contests- he also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 12 rebounds per night. Gianpaolo Riccio averages 16.5 points per night- while Romello Bates chips in 13 points per game. The Gyrenes are averaging 84 points a game as a team.
