The Rollins Tars were a 81-69 loser to Embry-Riddle in the conference opener for both teams Wednesday at Warden Arena. The Tars fall to 5-1 (0-1 SSC) on the season with the loss. With the victory ERAU improves to 7-3 1-0 SSC.)
Rollins was led by a pair of players in double figures. Parker Davis had a career high 20 points- while Daniel Loh added 11. Rollins shot 42 percent from the field- 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line- and- 56 percent (5-9) at the free throw line. They had 11 assists and 14 turnovers in the contest.
The Eagles had five players in double figures paced by Tyler Lockett-Fuller with 15 points. Nick Heard had 13- Elijah Jenkins had 12- Luka Majstorovic had 11- and- CJ Henagan netted 10 off the bench.
ERAU shot the ball well from the field (52 percent-) and the 3-point line (11-26) for 42 percent. They shot at a 75 percent clip (12-16) at the free throw line. The Eagles won the rebounding battle 37-33. They had 15 assists and 18 turnovers as a team.
The first 10 minutes of the game saw three ties and four lead changes. Rollins would go on a 10-2 run late in the opening half to take a nine point lead (35-26) with 2:37 until halftime. ERAU would close the half on a 13-2 run to take a 39-37 lead into the locker room.
The teams would go back and forth for the next several minutes. After a Sheldon Odunna layup the game was tied at 58 with 9:09 to go. ERAU would score the next five, before a Davis basket would cut it to three. The Eagles would then go on a 11-0 burst to go up 76-62 with 4:02 to go. The Tars would get no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
