Rollins Rallies For Season Opening Win.

The Rollins Tars rallied from a 11 point deficit with 14 minutes to go and come away with a 76-71 win over Auburn Montgomery on Friday night. With the win Rollins improves to 1-0, while the WarHawks drop to 0-1 in defeat.
 Jakobi Bonner scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half to spearhead the Tars come back. He was not alone though. Brooks Cluxton scored 15 points- grabbed eight rebounds- and- blocked six shots in the win. Dayton Gumm also scored in double figures with 14 points. Rollins shot 49 percent as a team- 28 percent (5-18) from the 3-point line- and- 73 percent (19-26) from the free throw line. The Tars shot 60 percent in the second half en route to scoring 50 points in the half. Rollins had 11 assists and 17 turnovers.
 Auburn-Montgomery got 21 points off the bench from Stanley Davis who drained five 3-pointer's in the contest- Darrion Taylor added 19- and- Carlos Bell scored 10. The WarHawks shot 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from the 3-point line (10-23) in this one. They shot 63 percent (5-8) at the free throw line. The WarHawks won the rebounding battle 36-31. They had 12 assists and 18 turnovers as a team.
  Both teams got off to slow starts offensively as AUM led 16-15 halfway thru the first stanza. The Tars trailed by 12 (32-20) before closing the half on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit in half (32-26) at the break.
 Rollins trailed by 11 with 14 minutes to play but would go on a 19-7 run to lead 59-55 with eight minutes to go.
 AUM would tie the game and then take the lead after a old fashioned three-point play by Carlos Bell. The game was tied at 69 with 1:35 to go as Bonner split a pair of free throws after a taunting technical foul on AUM. Cluxon gave Rollins a brief one point lead that the WarHawks would take right back 71-70 with less than a minute left. Rollins would regain the lead after Bonner hit a pair of free throws with 21 ticks remaining. The Tars then closed it out on the defensive end and iced it at the free throw line.
