The Tars split a pair of games over the weekend that both came down to the final horn. In the opener on Saturday a 3-pointer sunk the Tars in a 76-74 loss at Fort Valley State. Sunday it was a Matus Malovec tip-in that powered Rollins to a 84-82 win over Union University. Rollins averages 79 points per game while they give up 79 per contest in the young season. They are shooting the ball at a 45.5 percent clip from the field and 32.7 percent from the 3-point line. Rollins shoots 69.8 percent from the free throw line in the early season while on the glass they are +10 (out rebounding the opposition 40.5-30.5) rebounds per night. They are dishing out 14 assists per game while turning the ball over 11 times per night. The Tars are getting 3.5 steals per game and blocking three shots per contest as well. Jah Nze leads the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game followed by Omar Figueroa putting up 17 per contest and Marshall Klug netting 10 points per night. For the Eagles (4-1) they are coming off a 104-91 win over Trinity College on Friday. They split a pair of games with Beacon College (L78-74 on road) and won (84-74 at home.) UFL scores 89.6 points pet game while they give up 71 points per night. They shoot 46.6 percent from the field and 48.5 percent from the 3-point line while at the free throw line they shoot 70.1 percent. On the glass they are getting two (39.2-37.2) more rebounds than the opposition. UFL dishes out 22.8 assists per game and turn the ball over 10.8 times per night. The Eagles get 17.8 steals per contest and block 4.6 shots per game as a team. Jimel Cofer leads four players in double figures scoring 19.5 points per game, Chris Berry nets 17.8 per night, Freddie Reeves tallies 11 per contest, and Corey Pope rounds out the double digit scorers at 10.8 per game. Pope leads the team pulling down 5.8 rebounds per game while Vugar Kuliev leads the team dishing out 6.2 assists per contest. Berry and Adrian Body lead the team getting more than three steals per game while Pope has swatted a team leading four shots.
