Tars Preparing For Showdown!

The Rollins College Tars (6-2) are in Las Vegas preparing for a big showdown with the 5th ranked Wildcats of Western Washington (8-0).
After getting as high as the thirteenth ranked team in the country the Tars (6-2) suffered a setback with a loss at Palm Beach Atlantic and have failed to break back into the poll since. Rollins bounced back from the rare loss with a 64-52 win at home against Southeastern University on Saturday. The Tars come into Thursday's first round of the Great Western Shootout with a trio of players in double figures. Matt Robertson continues to lead Rollins in scoring (18.4 PPG).  The Native of Alabama has been held to 11 and 13 points in the Tars last two contests. Nick Wolf (18.3PPG) is closing quickly on the Tars leading scorer. The Cincinnati native is coming off a 20 point performance vs Southeastern. Wolf looks to run his consecutive games of double digit scoring streak to 75 on Thursday. Myk Brown (14.4 PPG) rounds out the Tars double digit scorers. After a slow start to the season in the Gulf South/ Sunshine State Conference Challenge, Brown has increased his scoring. Brown only scored 15 points total in the challenge.  The native of Gainesville and VCU transfer had 10 points in the win vs Southeastern (all in the first half). The Tars who are a traditionally solid three point shooting team come in struggling from beyond the arc at 31%.
Western Washington comes in on a 8 game win streak. The Wildcats had a very solid 92-81 win over Chaminade two games ago and squeaked out a 67-65 win over Saint Martin in there last contest. The Wildcats are led by Chris Sprinkler averaging 17 PPG. Sprinkler also averaging 6.0 rebounds and shoots at a 79% clip from the foul line. Jamar Berry is the second leading scorer for the Wildcats. He averages 16.9 PPG, Berry also hauls down 5.1 rebounds and shoots 45% from the three point line on the season. Humberot Perez rounds out the double digit scorers for the Wildcats averaging 10.0 PPG. Drew Harris (5.25 a game and Perez 2,75) lead the Wildcats in assists. Jody Johnson averages solid numbers for the Wildcats. Johnson comes into the Great Western Shootout averaging 9.2 PPG and 5.7 rebounds a contest. Johnson is also at 75% albeit on just 4 attempts from three point land. This should be a great ball game as both teams can be deadly from three point land when hot.
Line: Rollins +2.5
