Tars Withstand Late Rally, Turn Back Wildcats!

The Rollins College Tars (7-2) opened up a 20 point first half lead and knocked off the 5th ranked and previously unbeaten Central Washington Wildcats 85-75 at the Arena at South Point in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game did not come without some tense moments. The Wildcats cut the Rollins lead to 2 at 63-61 with 8:07 to play before the Tars finished the game with a flourish.
The Tars were led by Nick Wolf who poured in a season high 30 points. Wolf was 10 of 14 from the field along with 10 of 12 at the charity stripe. Myk Brown continue his stellar play in the last few games scoring 23 points. Brown was 6 of 11 from the floor and 8 of 9 at the line. Matt Robertson rounded out the Tar double digit scorers with 16 points. Robertson was 4 of 7 from the field and 6-10 at the line. The Tars shot a season high 59% (23-39) from the field. RC also went 5-9 (56%) from three point land. The Tars shot at a 76% clip (34-45) at the foul line. Rollins won the battle on the glass 30-25. The Tars did commit 17 turnovers.
The Wildcats (8-1) suffered their first setback of the season. They dug themselves a big hole and trailed wire to wire in this one. Central Washington tallied four players in double figures on the evening. Jody Johnson led the Wildcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Humberto Perez also netted 19 on 7 of 11 shooting, including 5 of 9 from long range. Chris Spinker and Drew Harris rounded out the double digit scorers with 12, and 11 respectively.  Jamal Berry who came into the game as one of the best point guards in the country was held to 6 points and saddled with 13 foul-plagued minutes before fouling out.
 The Wildcats shot 43% (26-60) from the floor. The hosts were 10-28 (36%) from three point land. Central Washington made good on 13-17 (77%) of there free throw attempts. The Wildcats committed 17 turnovers in the ball game.
