The Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish knocked off the Rollins College Tars 89-83 Saturday at Warden Arena. Rollins has dropped four straight and falls to 14-11 and 10-7 in the SSC. PBA improves to 13-14 and 7-9 in the SSC.
The Sailfish were paced by Marshall Riddle who knocked down six 3-pointer's on his way to 18 points. De'Ondre Jackson added 17- Grant Gullett just missed a double-double (15 points and nine rebounds-) while Jules Jasmin scored 11. Dakota Zinzer rounded out the double digit scorers with 10. The Sailfish shot 55 percent as a team- 43 percent (12-28) from the 3-point line- and- 71 percent (17-24) at the free throw line. The Sailfish had 23 assists and 16 turnovers.
Rollins was led by Jeff Merton who netted 14 points- Deion Clark and Jack Fleming each added 13. While Jakobi Bonner scored 12. The Tars shot 49 percent from the field- and- 39 percent (13-33) from the 3-point line. At the free throw line the Tars shot 80 percent (12-15.) Rollins had 17 assists and 13 turnovers.
The Sailfish came out red hot knocking down eight straight shots to begin the game and led 20-6 in the early going. The Tars would get back to within four after Fleming and Marcus Camacho knocked down 3-pointer's. Rollins was playing Saturday without the services of leading scorer Sam Philpott who was out with an injury. The Sailfish would go take a 11 point lead (42-31) at halftime.
The Tars trailed by double digits for much of the second half but would get a spark from Parker Davis off of the bench that sparked a 15-3 run to get them within two (65-63) with 6:56 to go. On the ensuing possession three PBA free throws stretched the lead to five. The Tars would get to within three once again (68-65) with five minutes to go. That is as close as Rollins would get as the Sailfish completed the season sweep.
Rollins will be back in action on Wednesday night when they take on Nova Southeastern on the road. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM. You can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com
