Trio Of Tars Lift Rollins To Holiday Hoops Classic Title.

For the first time in a few years the Rollins Tars walked out of Las Vegas with the title that they went to the Holiday Hoops Classic to get when they knocked off Montana State Billings 58-54 in the title game. The trio of Brooks Cluxton- Jakobi Bonner- and- Hutton Yenor scored 38 Tars points in the title game win. With the win Rollins improved to 8-3- while Billings dropped to 5-5 on the season.
 Cluxton and Bonner had 14 each- while Yenor added 10 in the victory. Rollins shot 44 percent from the field- 25 percent (3-12) from the 3-point line- and- 64 percent (6-11) at the free throw line. The Tars had 14 assists- and- 15 turnovers in the contest.
 The Yellow Jackets also had three players in double figures. Brendan Howard paced Billings with 19 points- Zharon Howard added 17- and- Tyler Green netted 14 in the defeat. The Yellow Jackets shot 37 percent as a team- 22 percent (6-27) from the 3-point line- and- 80 percent (8-10) at the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets won the rebounding battle 32-29. They had 12 assists- and- 18 turnovers in a losing effort.
 The game was a back and forth affair that featured six ties- and- 11 lead changes. After being behind much of the first half the Tars would rally to finish the half on a 11-3 run to take a 28-23 lead into the locker room.
 Rollins would stretch the lead to 12 (39-27) after a Bonner 3-pointer with 15 minutes remaining. Rollins lead would be sliced to four (45-41) just four minutes later. The Yellow Jackets would knot the game at 52 with 3:38 left before both teams would not score the for the next two minutes. Yenor would give Rollins the lead at the 1:35 mark. After a Rollins defensive stop Yenor would stretch the lead to four (56-52) on the ensuing possession. The Yellow Jackets would cut the lead in half with 46 ticks remaining on the clock. Yenor would all but seal the victory with a layup with 19 seconds to go. The win would be the Tars fourth straight and they would walk out of the Holiday Hoops Classic with a Tournament Title.
 After a holiday break Rollins will be back in action on 1/2 when they hosting Saint Leo in a Sunshine State Conference contest. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and RollinsSports.com
