The Rollins Tars are the only team in the Sunshine State Conference to lose to the Lynn Fighting Knights this season. Up by three (32-29) at the half, the Tars made sure not to have a repeat of what happened in Boca Raton a month ago. The Tars scored the half's first 15 points and rolled to a 73-49 win on senior night at Warden Arena.
With the win the Tars improved to 13-11 on the season and 7-7 in the SSC. Three Tars, including a pair of senior's scored in double figures on senior night. Mitch Woods tied his career high with 26 points. The senior was 12 of 20 from the floor and two of three from the foul line. He also tallied six steals in the game. The other senior, Adam Allen added 13 points on six of nine shooting in the game. The grad student and transfer from Florida scored in double figures for the second straight game. sophomore Alex Blessig also chipped in 13 points. Lukas Winegarner (out-broekn foot) was also honored prior to the contest Wednesday, along with student manager Austin David. The Tars shot 53 percent (30-57) from the floor in the game. They shot at a 33 percent clip (5-15) from the 3-point line. The Tars shot 89 percent (8-9) at the foul line. They had 11 assists and just eight turnovers.
The Fighting Knights (7-16 1-12 SSC) dropped there ninth straight. Aaron Harrison scored 14 points in a losing effort- while Caleb Klyburn added nine. Lynn shot 39 percent (19-49) from the field in the game. They shot 29 percent (4-14) from the 3-point line. The Knights shot 70 percent (7-10) at the foul line. Lynn won the rebounding battle 31-29. They had seven assists and 20 turnovers in the contest.
The Tars will be back in action Saturday when they head to Miami Shores to take on Barry. Tip time is set for 6 PM.
