Rollins Heads To Melbourne To Face FIT Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars will look to get back on the winning track Wednesday when they head to Melbourne to take on the Florida Tech Panthers.  You can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network at 91.5 FM WPRK and worldwide at RollinsSports.com from the Clemente Center in Melbourne.
Rollins (10-5 3-3 SSC) has lost five of six after a 9-0 start. The last time out was a gut wrenching 77-75 loss at Saint Leo. The Tars battled back from down seven in the game's final 3+ minutes.  Rollins had the ball with the game tied and 14 seconds to go. After a Deion Clark miss, Jeff Merton would have a tip in opportunity, a third tip in would  not fall and the ball would carom all the way to half court where Marcus Dewberry would gather and make the left handed layup as time would expire.  The Tars went 25-53 from the field and just 3-14 from the 3-point line in the defeat.  The Lions would shoot 48 percent from the field and nail 13 three-pointer's.  The Tars won the rebounding battle 34-33 on that day. They would only manage five assists on 25 made field goals though.
Four Rollins players scored in double figures in the loss.  Deion Clark led the way with 21 points- Jeff Merton added 15- Sam Philpott scored 12- while Eric Castaneda added 11.
Rollins comes into Wednesday averaging 82.8 points a game (sixth in the conference.)  On the other end they allow just 73.5 points per night.  The Tars also lead the league in field goal percentage (49 percent.)  They are the top free throw shooting team in the conference (81 percent.)  Also they are a solid 3-point shooting team (39 percent on the year.)
Merton leads the team in scoring at 15.1 a night- he is followed closely by Almulla (14.9 a game.)  Merton also leads the team in rebounding at 4.7 a night. Mike Bedulskis is right behind him at 4.6 rebounds a contest.
Florida Tech (10-5 3-2 SSC) comes in off a 78-71 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic last time out. The Panthers led by as many as 11 in that one.  Pat Anderson led the Panthers with 23 points in the loss.  Sam Daniels (14) and Jordan Majors (11) also scored in double figures. Majors is a guy to keep your eye on in this one. He averages 25 a game in the previous two games prior to the PBA contest. The Tars have given up big nights to Yunio Barrueta (40 points) from Barry and Caleb Stewart (30 points) from Saint Leo in the past week and a half.
The Panthers come into the contest scoring a league third best 88 points per night. They have struggled on defense though where they have given up 83.6 points per contest.  The Panthers are just below 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from the 3-point line on the season.
Corbin Jackson leads the Panthers in scoring at 13.9 points a game- Majors is right behind him at 13.3 a night- while Daniels  puts up 12.7 a contest.
