The Rollins Tars (12-6 5-3 SSC) fresh off a 89-72 win over arch rival Florida Southern Wednesday night will head to Tampa to battle the Spartans (5-12 1-7 SSC.) You can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and worlwide at RollinsSports.com.
Rollins scored 56 points in the second half after trailing 37-33 at the break to knock off the Mocs Wednesday. Sam Philpott continued his solid play of late scoring 19 of his career high 21 points in the victory. Leading scorer Jeff Merton scored all 12 of his points in the second period as well.Joey Galvis provided 11 points and five steals off the Rollins bench. James Farrell (10 points and eight assists-) as well as Mike Bedulskis each scored 10 points.
The Tars come into Saturday's game in the middle of the conference offensively, as they score 83.7 points per game. On the defensive end the Tars are second in the league (behind only Eckerd) giving up 73.4 points a night. The Tars come into the game as the top team in the SSC in both field goal percentage (nearly 50 percent) as well as free throw percentage (81 percent on the year.) The Tars have also been solid from the 3-point line where they are shooting at a 38 percent clip on the season.

In the game against NSU the Spartans were led by Austin Rettig with 25 points and five assists. Tampa got a career high 11 assists from Matt Johnson in the defeat. Pat Bacon also had a solid game, scoring 17 points and dishing out four assists.
The Spartans are last in the SSC offensively scoring just 73 points a game. On the defensive end they sit third, giving up 78.6 points a contest. The Spartans are eighth in field goal percentage (43 percent,) while they struggle from the 3-point line (32 percent on the year.)
Bacon leads the Spartans in scoring at 21 points a game. He is joined by Rettig who puts up 15,7 per night.
