The Rollins Tars host Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 4 PM inside Warden Arena. The Tars rallied from a 13 point deficit in the final five minutes capped by a Joey Galvis 3-pointer to secure a 75-74 win at the "Shark Tank" in the first meeting between the two schools on December 4th. Rollins (15-6 7-3 SSC) led for all but 32 seconds in a 82-79 overtime victory at #16 Eckerd on Wednesday. The Tars shot 49 percent (29-59) as a team on the night- they also won the rebounding battle 36-29. The Tars were a solid 18-22 from the free throw line in the victory. Sam Philpott paced the Tars with a team high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds- Deion Clark stuffed the stat sheet as he scored 17 points for a second straight game to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Mike Bedulskis also scored in double digits with 10- while Jack Fleming was huge off the bench scoring 10 points as well. Jeff Merton led the team with nine rebounds- but the Tars leading scorer only managed four points before fouling out late.
Rollins leads the SSC in field goal percentage (49 percent-) and free throw percentage (79 percent.) They are fourth in the conference shooting 38 percent from the 3-point line- while they are fifth in the conference in scoring at 83 points per night.
Merton leads the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game- Sharif Almulla puts up 12.4 a game- while Philpott is netting 11.3 a contest.
Nova Southeastern(9-11 4-7 SSC) is coming off a 79-77 win over Florida Tech Wednesday night at the "Shark Tank" as Casey Carroll drilled the game winner.
Chris Page scored 29 points to lead the Sharks victory. Harrison Goodrick added a double-double (18 points and 12 rebounds-) while Carroll rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 (including the game winner.)
The Sharks are eighth out of nine teams in the conference scoring 77 points per game. On the defensive end they are fourth giving up 78.8 a contest.
NSU has two players averaging double figures on the season. Page s fifth in the SSC putting up 19.7 points per game- Goodrick has been solid as well scoring 14.9 a contest.
