Tars Head to Saint Pete, Battle #16 Eckerd Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars will be back in action Wednesday at 730 PM when they take on the 16th ranked Eckerd College Tritons at the McArthur Center in Saint Pete. You can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park.
  The last time out, Rollins (14-6 6-3 SSC) fended off a furious rally by Embry Riddle in the second half to post a 97-93 win at Warden Arena. The Tars shot 58 percent from the field- and dominated the rebounding battle 35-24 in their third straight victory.  The Tars had 27 assists in the win and shot 47 percent (15-32) from the 3-point line.
  Jeff Merton led the way for the Tars as he has all season with 22 points on the day- Deion Clark added 17- Sam Philpott netted 13- and- Mike Bedulskis posted 12 in the victory.  James Ferrell tied a career high with nine assists.
  Rollins comes into the game fifth in the conference in scoring at 83.1 points per night.  They are second (behind only Eckerd) on the defensive end where they give up 74.4 points a game.  The Tars shoot 49 percent from the field- 38 percent from the 3-point line- and lead the conference in free throw shooting (79 percent.)
  Three Tars are averaging double figures on the season. Merton scores 15.4 a night- Sharif Almulla is putting up 12.4 a contest- and- Philpott posts 10.9 a game.
  The Tars were a 67-62 loser to Eckerd in the first meeting in Winter Park. A game that they led much of the way, they led by as many as 16 in the second half before suffering what was their first loss of the season.
  The Tritons (18-3 9-1 SSC) fell six spots in the most recent NABC/Division II coaches poll after falling to Saint Leo last Wednesday.  They quickly bounced back with a 69-56 win over Florida Tech the last time out.  Three Tritons scored double figures in that one.  Kevin Walsh led the way with 18 points- Drushaun McLaurn netted 13- while E.J Moddy scored 11.
  Eckerd comes into Wednesday seventh in the SSC in scoring at 80.7 points per contest.  They make up for it at the other end where they are by far the best team on the defensive end allowing under  69 points a game.  They shoot 47 percent from the field as a team- and- 39 percent from the 3-point line.
  McLaurn paces the Tritons in scoring at 12.4 points a game- Jerrick Stevenson puts up 12.1 per contest- Walsh nets 11 a game- while Trevon Yound  scores 10.2 a contest.
