Rollins Takes On #17 Barry In Key SSC Clash As Klusman Seeks Win 650.

The Rollins College Tars welcome the co-leaders of the Sunshine State Conference when they take on the #17 Barry Buccaneers at Warden Arena Wednesday night. You can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park.
  Rollins (17-7 9-4 SSC) had its six game win streak snapped by Florida Tech last time out. Jeff Merton led the Tars with 22 points in the loss. It was a game that the Tars trailed by 28 (29-1,) Rollins came all the way back and led before turning it over twice in the last 16 seconds to seal a 75-72 loss.  Sam Philpott continued to be a spark off the bench for Rollins, as he scored 18 points in 31 minutes.  Deion Clark scored eight points and grabbed a career high 12 rebounds.
  The Tars come into Wednesday's contest fourth in the SSC in scoring at 82.6 points a game on the offensive end- on defense they are third in the league giving up 74.7 per contest.  The Tars lead the SSC in both field goal percentage (49 percentage and free throw percentage (80 percent.)
  Merton is leading the Tars and is ninth in the league in scoring at 15.4 points per game- Philpott continues to improve with every game as he is giving Rollins 12.1 points a night off the bench.  Merton is leading the team in rebounding at 4.7 per night.
  Klusman will try for win #650 for a second time. He comes in with a career record of 649-379 in his 36th season on the Tars bench.  He has the fifth most victories amongst active DII coaches, while he is 12th in total victories.  Klusman is looking to be just the fifth active coach to achieve 650 career wins.
  #17 Barry is also coming off a loss that snapped a six game win streak last time out.  The Bucs (18-4 10-3 SSC) are coming off a 105-91 loss to Nova Southeastern at the Don Taft University Center.
  The Bucs are still atop the SSC, now sharing the top spot with Eckerd at 10-3.  In the loss to Nova a Barry team playing from behind much of the night attempted 40 3-pointer's, making 17 of them.  Nova dominated Barry in the paint by a score of 50-18.
  Yunio Barrueta led Barry with five 3-pointer's en route to 24 points.  Undra Mitchem also nailed five 3-pointer's on his way to a 19 point- outing.
  Barry comes in with the best offense in the SSC averaging more than 94 points a game.  They are in the bottom half of the league at the other end giving up 82 points a contest.
 Barrueta is the top scorer in the conference at 25.5 points per game- he is also second in the league in rebounding, grabbing 9.5 rebounds a night.  Anders Haas is second on the team in scoring at 13.5 points a night.
Barrette went off for 40 points, including 10 3-pointer's in a 98-85 Buccaneers win back in Miami Shores January 2nd.
