Rollins-Southern Renew Rivalry Wednesday.

The Rollins Tars and Florida Southern Moccasins will renew acquaintes on Wednesday night at Jenkins Fieldhouse.  The Mocs and Tars met in the opening game of the SSC with the Tars winning 101-92 in Winter Park.  As always you can catch all the action on the Geico Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM WPRK.
  Rollins (11-8 5-5 SSC) comes into Wednesday's contest riding a three game win streak.  The most recent game was a 91-82 victory over Florida Tech. Jeff Merton tied a career high with 28 points in the game- the Tars will be back on the road Wednesday though (they are just 2-3 in true road games on the season.)  
  The Tars are paced offensively by Sam Philpott- the Nobelsville, Indiana native is 10th in the SSC averaging 15.1 points per game- he also is second on the team averaging 4.4 rebounds a night.  Jeff Merton is 11th in the SSC in scoring at 14.9 points per night and leads the Tars grabbing 5.2 rebounds a game.  Joey Galvis comes in averaging 10.1 points a game and has been sensational on the defensive end all season. Galvis leads the SSC and is 12th nationally with 41 steals (more than two per night.)  Connor McKim leads the team in assists at 3.4 per game. As a team the Tars average 79.8 points a game while they allow 79.5 per contest.
  The Mocs (7-11 5-4 SSC) have won four of the last five. The last time out though they lost to Embry-Riddle 83-64.  Southern is led by Jeremiah Davis and Michael Volovic who each average 14.4 points a game.  Volovic leads the team shooting 42 percent from the 3-point line- while Jarel Spellman leads the team in rebounding at 6.7 per night. The Mocs average 83.8 points per game- but on the defensive end they have really struggled allowing 87.4 points per night.
