Rollins Downed by Eckerd Saturday.

The Rollins Tars dropped a third consecutive game. This one a 95-81 setback at 24th ranked Eckerd on Saturday at the McArthur Center in St.Pete. With the loss Rollins dropped to 7-6 on the season and 4-2 in the SSC. Eckerd has now won nine straight and improved to 12-1 on the year and 5-1 in the SSC.
  Sam Philpott led the Tars with 18 points on the day.  Jack Fleming knocked down five 3-pointer's on his way to a 16 point day- Jeff Merton added 15-and- Connor McKim scored 11.  The Tars shot 50 percent as a team- and- 32 percent (10-31) from the 3-point line.  They struggled at the free throw line where they shot 68 percent (17-25.)  They had 17 assists and just seven turnovers.
  Drushaun McLaurn led the Tritons with 23 points- Trevon Young posted a double-double-double (22 points and 12 rebounds-) while Blake Morrow and Keshawn Ingram netted 11 points each.  Travis Bianco also scored in double digits with 10.  The Tritons shot 58 percent from the field- 30 percent (7-24) from the 3-point line- and- 88 percent (22-25) at the free throw line.  The Tritons crushed the Tars on the boards 36-21.  They had 21 assists and 10 turnovers.
  The game was very closely played at the beginning and the Tars trailed 11-10 six and a half minutes in.  The game was 24-18 with 9:20 to go in the opening half as Jakobi Bonner scored. Bonner played for the first time this season Saturday.  The Tritons then went on a 15-0 run to open up a 21 point lead four minutes later.  The Tars deficit was 47-37 at the half.
  The Tars would get to within five (57-52) in the second half but they would would be down 13 (67-54) shortly there after.  The Tars would get to within nine but that is as close as they would get.  It was a third consecutive loss for Rollins.
 The Tars will be back in action Wednesday as they will face Palm Beach Atlantic at Rubin Arena. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM. You can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com
