The Rollins Tars welcome the Florida Tech Panthers to Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center on Wednesday night to close out the first half of the SSC schedule. The two teams come into the contest with identical 9-8 overall and 3-6 SSC records. Rollins is coming off a 75-65 loss at home Saturday. Hutton Yenor made three triples on his way to a team leading 19 points off the bench- Jakobi Bonner netted 17- Brooks Cluxton tallied 12- and- Trevor Recio chipped in 11. Rollins shot 44 percent from the field- 33 percent (8-24) from the 3-point line in the loss- they shot at a 69 percent clip (11-16) from the free throw line. They had 18 assists- and- 15 turnovers as a team in the defeat. As a team the Tars are scoring 74.9 points a night- while defensively the trademark Tars zone has led Rollins to the second best in the SSC allowing 73.6 points a night. The Tars have struggled at home this season- where they are 2-6 on the year. Rollins will be looking for the first conference win at home this season.
Bonner leads the way at 16.7 points per night- Dayton Gumm is getting 12.5 per night but is still out with an injury- Yenor is scoring 12.3 per game off the bench - while Connor McKim nets 10.1 per contest- and- dishes out a team leading 3.4 assists per night. Recio is the leading rebounder pulling down 7.7 rebounds per contest.
Florida Tech was off on Saturday after suffering a 33-point drubbing at the hands of Tampa last time out. Derek Murphy leads both the Panthers and the SSC in scoring at 23.2 points per game- Season Russell scores 17.8 per contest having shot 44 percent from the 3-point line- and- 86 percent at the free throw line. Runako Ziegler contributes nine per contest. The Panthers score 81.1 per game- while they allow 77.1 per night. The Panthers have yet to collect a victory away from the Clemente Center this season.
