The Rollins College Tars (12-5 overall and 5-2 in the SSC) welcome the Nova Southeastern Sharks (9-7 overall and 4-3 in the SSC) to Warden Arena Wednesday night. The game marks the end of the first half of the conference slate for both teams.
The Tars are coming off a 84-70 loss versus Florida Tech on Saturday. Despite the loss the Tars remain tied a top the SSC at 5-2 along with FIT. Dave Diakite had a solid game in the loss and continued his stellar play of late. The Junior transfer from UCF had 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss Saturday. The Tars come into Wednesday's contest boasting the top defense as far as field goal percentage goes. The Tars allow their opponents to shoot just 41 percent from the field on the season. They are fourth in the conference allowing 66.2 points a game while scoring 69.8 points a contest themselves. The Tars come in with a record of 8-2 at home on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
Individually the Tars have four players tallying double figure scoring on the season. Myk Brown leads the way at 12.6 points a game. The Senior from Gainesville looks to bounce back after scoring just six in the loss to the Panthers Saturday. Dave Diakite and Jeremy Sharpe each come into Wednesday netting 11 points a game. Chris Malcolm rounds out the double digit scorers with 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks a night.
Nova is coming off a 67-53 win over Saint Leo on Saturday and have won four of five after a slow start. Iran Hollis led the Sharks with 23 points in the win over Leo. The Sharks score 72.7 points a game as a team and allow 68.1 a contest. The Sharks are the top shooting team in the conference (50 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free throw line).
NSU has three players in double numbers in the season box score. Rob Hunnington leads the way at 12.4 points a contest. Teddy Tassy adds 11.4 a game, while Iran Hollis chips in 10.4 a night. The Sharks are 2-3 on the road thus far this season. They are 5-25 all time vs Rollins.
