Tars Travel to Melbourne For Tussle With FIT Saturday.

The Rollins College Tars (12-4 overall 5-1 SSC) head to Melbourne Saturday for a huge game with Florida Tech. The Tars have won three straight and lead FIT and Eckerd by one game in the SSC standings.
The Tars most recent game was a 86-67 thrashing over Barry on Wednesday. All eight Tars who suited up scored. Jeremy Sharpe broke out of a recent shooting slump to score 20 in the win. Dave Diakite, Chris Malcolm and Ian Scott all also scored double digits in the win. Scott had a pair of steals Wednesday, which moved him past assistant coach Brad Ash and into seventh place in Rollins history with 162. The Tars come into Saturday averaging 70 points a game while giving up 65.
All five Tars starters are averaging double figures on the season. Myk Brown leads the way at 13 points a contest, while Jeremy Sharpe and Dave Diakite are each putting up 11 a game. Chris Malcolm comes into Saturday averaging 10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game. Ian Scott is putting up 10.1 points and dishing out 4.1 assists a contest.
The Panthers come into Saturday 12-3 on the season and 4-2 in the SSC. They are in a second place tie with Eckerd at 4-2. The Panthers are winners of six of the last seven. They come in with the top offense in the conference averaging 81.3 points a game, but have  struggled on the defensive end allowing 71.1 points a night.
Florida Tech also has five players averaging double figures on the season. Simon Cummings is putting up 20.6 points a game to pace the Panthers, while Julius Reed posts 14.8 a contest. Derek Hellemann (13.5 ppg), Anthony Jackson (13.0 ppg) and Jermaine Jackson (10.9 ppg) also register double digits for the hosts. FIT is 9-1 at home this season. They are coming off a 64-54 win over Trinty Baptist last time out.
Something has to give in this one. The Panthers high flying offense vs the Tars stifling zone defense. Rollins has not lost a true road game this season while the Panthers have only lost one contest at home.
The line: Rollins by 1
