Tars Face Giant Road Test Saturday.

The Rollins Tars (8-2) will play about as big a game as you can play in January when they travel to the Bob Martinez Center to face the undefeated 22nd ranked Tampa Spartans.
The Tars (8-2) are coming off a split of a pair of games in the Winter Park Rotary Tangerine Tournament. In the opener Rollins reeled off their eight straight win with a 71-61 victory over Mansfield. The next afternoon Shaw knocked off the Tars in the title game.
Dave Diakite had a solid tournament for the Tars, scoring 23 points in the opener and 20 in the nightcap.  Adam Allen scored 11 in the title game after sitting out the opener (knee) and Kyle McClanahan was also a member of the All Tournament team along with Diakite.
The Tars come into Saturday's game averaging 74.7 points and allow just 62. 2 a game.   Kyle McClamahan is the leading scorer at 14.2 points a game, which is ninth in the SSC.  He is third in the conference in assists at 5.1 a game and is tied for second in the league in field goal percentage (59 percent).  Diakite is second on the team at 13.4 a game.  He leads the team in rebounding at 5.4 a night and has 18 steals as well.  The Tars have two other players, Brett Chance (10.8 ppg) and Adam Allen (10.1 ppg) averaging double figures.  The Tars were picked fourth in the preseason and are 1-0 thus far in conference play.  The Tars were 8-3 last season and finished 16-11 overall.

The Tampa Spartans (12-0) were picked last in the conference preseason but have run off twelve straight wins to start the campaign. Tampa currently sits 22nd in the coaches poll.  The Spartans have already doubled there win total from last season (6-20, 2-14).  Like the Tars the Spartans are coming off  a holiday tournament that they hosted. UT was the champ in the Tampa classic knocking off Miles and Paine.
Da'Marko Foster leads the Spartans and is second in the SSC at 19 points a contest.  One other Spartan scores in double digits as well.  Anthony Griffis puts up 14.8 points a game.  Vincent Cornu averages 8.6 points and 6.3 rebounds a game.  Jon Riles is the top assist man in the SSC at 5.4 a night.  The Spartans have knocked off Southeastern, Shaw and Palm Beach Atlantic who were all common opponents they had with the Tars.
