Tars Battle Panthers To Close Out Saint Leo Classic Saturday.

The Rollins Tars (1-4) will battle the Virginia Union Panthers (1-4) Saturday in the second day of the Saint Leo Classic.
  The Tars fell 70-59 to 18th ranked USC- Aiken (5-1) after holding a seven point halftime lead. The Tars were led by Mitch Woods 19 points. Woods was only five of 16 from the field but connected on all seven free throw attempts. Adam Allen was five of 11 from the field for his 14 points. All 14 came in the opening half for Allen. He was five of six in the opening half. The Tars shot 31 percent from the field and were just one of 11 from the 3-point line in the second half. The Tars lone win on the season was a 83-61 win over Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tars have lost two straight since.
  Virginia Union was a 68-62 winner over host Saint Leo in the nightcap Friday. The Panthers are also 1-4 on the season. A pair of Panthers scored in double figures in the win over the Lions. Ray Anderson scored a game high 21 points. He was seven of nine from the field and seven of nine at the foul line. Gerard Mcbride-Dean added 10 for VUU. Anderson leads the Panthers box score going into the weekend tournament averaging 19.5 points a game. Omar Briggs averages a double-doube (13.3 points and 10.3 rebounds a night.) The Panthers came into the weekend averaging 75.2 points a game. They allow 82.2 points a night. The Tars and VUU have never faced each other in men's basketball.
